This thread is pretty much a place for you guys to post your ideas for things you think might make better movies than whatever Hollywood might be coming out with now as remakes and rehashes. Got a good idea but aren't rich enough/skilled enough to make it? Bring it up here, let's see what you got. Maybe it'll be interesting.

theres 6 basic elements that make a good movie, if your idea does include these the movie producers will say no

- guns
- boobs
- fast cars
- explosions
- more explosions
- even more explosions

Well, this is actually a TV Show idea, but I would like to see The Avengers made into a sitcom.

you seen agents of shield?

I know its not exactly the avengers or a sitcom but its a decent comedy drama based on that universe, ive only seen a few episodes and thought it was actually quite good but by no means great(i wasnt expecting much though)

I'd like to see a movie based around the rivalry of two crossword players. They never meet face to face but instead battle in the realm of newspaper crossword competitions.

I've heard of it, but something tells me it might not live up to quarrels about Thor leaving Mjölnir lying around for Hawkeye to stub his toes on, or complaints from Captain America about how demeaning it is for Hulk and Iron Man to use his shield as a frisbee. Not to mention the collective groan from the guys when Black Widow still happens to be getting ready for dinner with Nick Fury, making them late yet again.

The problem is that without a good story even if you hit all right elements your movie will still suck.

Take Sucker Punch, it has:
- Guns
- Swords
- Pretty Girls in sexed up costumes.
- Forced Prostitution
- Male Dominance
- War
- Many Explosions
- Battle Mech
- Fast Vehicles.
- Steam punk Nazi Zombies
- Orc's
- Dragons
- Killer Robots
- Giant Samurai Demon/Robots
- An unhappy ending.

On paper (elements wise) it is the perfect male movie aimed directly at the (primal) male brain. Yet it still sucks.

I wasnt saying it would be anything like an avengers sitcom but as its own entity its not that bad not great though. Agent coulson being one of my favourite characters from the avengers series and a huge fan favourite really shines in what is essentially his own spin-off series (which i believe takes place after the events of the avengers movie, i wouldve prefered a prequel but thats just me). writing is a bit cheesy and you dont have to follow every episode to know whats going on (which can be both a blessing and a curse). Along with "by any means" (BBC exclusive, if you are from outside the UK id suggest you find a way to watch it) agents of shield will be my breaking bad replacements

I'm a film student working on my own screenplay with a second planned. Not gonna lie, it'll be hard to get writers to post up their ideas for an unfinished work they have no proof of ownership for. I know I would never do it and I would not recommend it to anyone else.
Through my own writing groups, I encounter countless other writers who fret about plagiarism, as though some thief is going to go to the trouble of writing an entire book off of a damn log line they provided on a forum. Plagiarism shouldn't be that much work, and if I was going to steal a story, I'd at least steal one that was both finished and publishable, let alone good.

I actually liked that film, most people said it was terrible but i thought it was bold and provocative and most importantly something different. My only criticism (and its a pretty big one) was that the plot was all over the place. if you arent paying attention its very difficult to follow, it was almost as if they were trying to reproduce the success of inceptions layered storyline

theres a lot of conclusions the viewer has to make for themselves, the conclusion that i got was not that of male empowerment but more about how the vulnerable are treated. Baby doll was abused, diagnosed with a mental illness and she is quite obviously mistreated by the staff at the asylum

I think part of the problem with it though, was it was in denial about what it was. If the movie was aware of itself it could have simply had fun with the premise like Cabin in the Woods or something. Instead, Sucker Punch insisted it was an intellectual movie and tried to tackle real issues about women being abused, and simultaneously be a stylized action movie. The result was none of the pieces worked together.

My point is that excessive stylized action can work with little or no plot, but it requires more finesse than it first appears. Look at Shoot Em Up thats a fun action movie with no pre-tense of plot.

Well I have multiple short stories I refuse to post as anywhere due to paranoia of seeing it make money under someone elses name and collaberated with a friend to write up a large comic parodying peoples egos dependance on technology and lifestyles based around drug intake... I've said too much.

If I were filthy rich, I would produce a TV-Series about vampire-killers in a thinly disguised Twilight-universe, where the vampires are slowly revealed to be precursors of Warhammer40.000 chaos cultists and plague zombies.

I always liked the idea of a TV-series about the Byzantine Empire. We got plenty of things about Rome and ancient Greece and yadda, yadda, yadda... but not a single story about the Byzantines. You know, it would be kind of like Game of Thrones but with more blinding and castration.

I had this idea that it would start right after the battle of Manzikert (1071, when the Seljuk warlord Alp Arslan kicked the Byzantines right in the balls, conquered Asia Minor and kickstarted the decline of the empire)and would end with the beginning of the First Crusade and the restoration under Alexios I Kommenos. It would have powerfull Doux(es?), fighting over the right to sit on the throne, shifty court eunuchs with immense influence and ofcourse the Varangian Guard (imagine the Spetznaz, but with huge axes and more beard) kicking all kinds of ass, be it Greek, Bulgarian or Turkish etc...

Well, I know that it will never be realized (well, without sucking) but a man can dream....

I'd like to see an SCP foundation movie series a la Avengers, with different SCPs as their stars. All of them done in a style unique to the movie itself, such as a SCP-106 movie done in shakycam, an SCP-682 done like a documentary, etc.

Captcha: you can do this. Look who's on board!

I actually got struck by an idea for a movie this morning that I thought might end up as a decent action/crime flick.

Basically, a Thief/criminal/guy gets together a bunch of other criminals together with one plan in mind:
Rob all the banks in the city.
At once.
The theory being that sure, the cops can respond to and stop a bank robbery... but ALL OF THEM at the same time? They'll either be spread too thin to stop anyone, or only be able to stop a couple, meaning that no matter how many robberies may fail, at least some of them will still succeed and the guy in charge wins.

Not that the mastermind would tell the others about the chance some may fail. :p

The sudden appearance of interstellar warships - five regular ones and one larger command ship, looking almost like reptilian pitchforks - throw the world into chaos. Armies mobilize and defenses firm up, and the aliens appear to be waitingfor it, as they position themselves to take on the brunt of whatever the six populated continents of the world can throw at them. And anyone is unwilling to commit receives a transmission, something that is forcing a larynx unfamiliar with human speech to speak it:

"Defend yourself or DIE."

Fight or die? A deliberate provocation? Why? Well, even as people try to figure that out, the battle must be joined or those rather-formidable-looking warships start taking potshots. This is responded with...well...everything. Not literally everything at once, but massive mobilization with a call-in to every back-up in the book, launching missles, dropping bombs, etc. And the aliens respond in kind. Giant plasma beams, shooting nukes out of the air and scarring landscapes... Deploying small attack ships that convert into mechs to hanndle ground forces... They're not no-selling everything, but most of everything thrown at them is being destroyed by a serious amount of technological weaponry.

Finally, as all militaries have had to either resort to getting extremely clever or self-sacrificing in order to prevent a total stomping, they will have learned two things: What sort of creatures they're dealing with and how they got there. Any destroyed mech that left an intact body would show that the aliens are tail-less reptiles with machine implants and a flight pack grafted to the back with four snake-like appendages made to act as extra jaws that can fire plasma bolts. The packs are grafted into a set of nerve clusters that use to be more complex, but became redundant after an evolutionary change. They would have been the start of necks some time ago. It seems like there is some connection with these beings and Earth, and it's revealed that there is a back-trace from their ship paths, leading back to the Bermuda Triangle.

No activity there for years, this place where ships and planes and certainly people have all disappeared in the past, supposedly a haven for the strangest occurrances, yet very few events lately. If they came from there, then they came in from the other side, from another world. Their world, which has always been connected, but that they perhaps learned to close off after a while. Those who are collecting all this are also trying to use all seized machinery or remains to create something to counter the aliens, but unfortunately the armies are becoming more and more spent, forced to retreat and regroup from depleted everything. And while the six vessels are scarred and burned from battle, especially where any sort of nuke DID get through, they're not down and they're not out. They don't seem to run out of power, and they're highly-skilled. And then, they reveal why this happened, why humanity was made to suffer.

They once lived on this planet. They were creatures of legend...once, a race of unusual reptiles whom nature had endowed with severe tendencies towards siamese growth syndromes. They were the hydras, and this is revenge.

I've been reading heaps of Lovecraft, and I reckon something based around the Miskatonic University would be really cool (my inspiration: http://mercvtio.deviantart.com/art/Miskatonic-University-student-391886688. Hope it isn't too... Yeah).

The details are not really relevant; whether its modern day or old, comedy or thriller, series or movie, it would still be awesome. Though the thrust of my inspiration is a modern day comedy series with an animal house style, with Deep Ones attending as well as humans, a Cthulhu mascot (http://www.deviantart.com/art/Miskatonic-Cephalopodes-54690238), Yellow Sign graffiti, and an incredibly difficult Physics degree where the average mark is the square root of minus one.
