As the title implies, I haven't played Shadow Of The Colossus, which is quite disheartening and odd as everyone deems it as BEST GAME EVER!!!1!

Which brings me to my question, what am I missing out on? and where can I find a decent copy? (Same questions apply to Ico aswell)

Neither have I.
I've been meaning to pick it up, but I keep getting distracted by Final Fantasy games.

Not necessarily BEST GAME EVAR but definitely worth picking up if you happen to find it used, or a nice long rent. The storytelling aspect is quite unique, and the game does a very good job of breaking from cliches. Your bond with your horse, Agro, becomes stronger than any character/animal bond than I can think of, and the boss fights are some of the best of our day.

Well, I haven't been with a prostitute, and a lot of political figures seem to think it is the bee's knees.

No need to post, just play it somewhere. SOMEONE you know has a ps2 you could borrow.

I haven't either, mainly because I never owned a PS2, (I had an original Xbox) and the PS3 doesn't have PS2 BC.

Nor I. I've never had a PS2 and don't particularly want to buy another console. Still, I sorely wish to play that game.

Console exclusivity can go fuck itself.

Don't forget that the boss fights are the only fights you'll have. No minor underlings to crowd the screen ever and no paranoia about being surrounded and beaten to death. Not to mention that the landscapes are beautiful.

Strolling through a Game store,
"I have to find Shadow of the Colossus. Have to find Shadow of the Colo-
...Tactics, ey?" *picks up game*
"Let's have a look... *inaudible mumbling* Hmmmm."
"I'll buy this my good man!" *slams Final Fantasy Tactics on the desk*

Definintely worth playing; not the best thing out there but it has amazing (for ps2) graphics, and even though it can seem bland on the surface as you progress you realize there is more depth and plot to the game that reveals itself to you in a way that few other games have managed to do.

Like my old english teacher would say, this game "shows, not tells" the story.

Doesn't beat FFX... in my opinion.

Meh I didn't like it. I found it to be a rather dull experience while trying to trick me into thinking it was so deep. Why give me a huge world and no reason to explore it?

I want to tell you why Shadow of the Colossus is so good. I really really do but I just can't find the words.

It is a very pretty game an very atmospheric. The best part of thegame for me is the romanticism of the story. I won't give it away, but it truly establishes and ends any argument over whether or not Videogames can be art IMHO.

I would not pass it up if I were you.

The game may be not that complex on paper, but the environments are beautiful, the story is epic without using much dialog, and most importantly, the bosses are epic. I'm serious, these are the best bosses I've ever encountered in gaming. They aren't those kind of bosses where you just smack them until they're dead, you need to first find out how to kill them, then when you do, you also find out that it's really frustrating. But that's what keeps you hooked in. The game isn't easy without commitment, but it isn't frustrating to the point of psychotic breakdown. Get it, it's worth it.
