No reason to be defensive, I didn't mean to step on your toes. And why would I try to change your mind about something you've already experienced and made up your mind about? That'd just be stupid.squid5580 said:You are not doing well if you are trying to convince me it was better than I think it is. Collectibles suck. They suck even more when you are trapped in an empty world. I do give it credit for it's graphics and the overall uniqueness of the game. It had a solid idea behind it. It just didn't appeal to me whatsoever. And I will admit there was one scene that broke my heart towards the end. Anyone who has played it will know exactly which one I mean so please don't ruin it for those that haven't. And this is just my opinion. I understand why others fell in love with it. I just didn't.Sonicron said:It's not the best game ever, but it's still amazing and it is unique, something which has become as rare as it gets. You probably won't go to gamer hell for not having played it, but it'd be a shame if you missed it.
The colossi in the second half of the game tend to take a lot of health and stamina out of the main character, so there is a reason to explore the world, namely finding all the fruit growing on trees and the lizards with the white tail (to increase your health bar and stamina gauge respectively). Plus it looks amazing, and the fact that there are no enemies around gives it a rather serene atmosphere, which is a nice change from the usual.squid5580 said:Meh I didn't like it. I found it to be a rather dull experience while trying to trick me into thinking it was so deep. Why give me a huge world and no reason to explore it?
And no at the time I wasn't a shooting frat boy looking for non stop action. Infact at the time I was a complete Japanophile and had played maybe 2 FPSes.
Oh, and I also didn't mean to bang at the 'games are art' drum, I just like SotC is all... Ico and Braid are also considered to be wearing that label and I haven't played either.
