The only major flaw The Walking Dead has is that you could not push Ben under the fucking train.

On my first playthrough I forgave him for everything. I stood up for him and helped him all the time and I felt good about it. But during the second I let him fall from the clock tower. I enjoyed watching him not being able to move after the fall and then to get eaten by zombies. Take THAT Ben!
All in all, he was a great character and he added much flavor to the story.

I liked Ben, and saving him gave me the most satisfying line in the game.

It's just how he snaps. The kid is put under so much over the course of the game, so to hear him fight back was a nice moment. He also has some good attentions, but he just sucks at portraying them.
...Now LARRY on the other hand was a Class 5 asshole. I killed him in my first playthrough and I tried to save him in my "be as nice as you can to everyone" run. After trying to be nice in my second playthrough to him and getting nothing back, I didn't want to save him. I wanted to kill him again.

When I was playing I didn't care for him either, for the reasons you stated. Yet when the opportunity came that I could choose to kill him, I found that I just couldn't do it. I had lost a lot of good people on this journey and didn't want any more to die. At that point I figured Ben had finally learned from his mistakes. As he was dangling there, he admitted his wrong-doings and was willing to accept death as the consequence. I thought that once I saved him, he would really start hauling ass and come through in the end, maybe take down a bunch of zombies alone or come up with an unexpected but brilliant plan.
So imagine how frustrated I was when he was brutality killed anyway in the next episode without doing anything. I was like, "What the hell was that?!" It was a really cruel outcome.
