Being a methodical, must open all chests type even as a kid, the water temple was never that hard - Dark Link being the hardest part for me. It just took a long time to do. Long enough to be frustrating, almost like it was dragged out intentionally.
So I just beat the water temple in Zelda OOT

As a kid, I ran around that damn dungeon forever. Lowering and raising water without knowing a damn thing about what was going on. That dungeon sucks while you're young. It was no surprise when I was older and heard everyone considered that dungeon the worst.
