Point guns at dudes, fire those guns.

Don't get much more general than that.

Stick with your team. Running off alone will likely result in you running into the entire enemy team alone and getting shot a lot. Which will kill you. Which means watching for a minute or two as your team has fun instead of dying before they get a shot off.

Don't suck like me.

really, my only advantage in the game is that my lag is so high I impair other players ability to shoot.

use shift a lot, its the default button for walking rather than running, it improves your accuracy in the same way crouching would, but using crouch all the time isn't reccomended, using either the cv-47 or the m4 rifles also make sure you tap-tap, so dont hold down the button because this is definately not the best way to go about it and you'll probably be do more damage to the coffee cup at the other end of the room rather than the guy about a foot in front of you ^^, and for the most part someone already pointed out teamwork, that is a must !, being lone wolf is pointless and just ends your fun quicker, oh. and make sure you use your sound !!!!!! a pair of headphones and listening out for footsteps is the most effective way of out thinking and out playing the other team than anything else.

hope this helps buddy, css is a game you have to play to learn, these are really just a few basics, and ive played for a good few years and played at the I-series lan events and in a few good ED and ESL teams. all the best mate

sharpy.

My suggestion is don't even play it. You can never find a server that actually hosts the actual game that doesn't have Minigames or some kind of mod on it.

Sometimes you will find one vanilla server but usually it's filled with hackers and mic spammers. Some clans host CS:S servers, so if you're part of one, see if they host one and get a gathering on there.

I suggest to play TF2. Game's fun and the community is very nice.

I have played this game for 27.4 hours, mostly against bots, and this is the 1337 advice I have accumulated over those hours:

1.) The AK-47 is quite good.
2.) The Deagle is rather good.
3.) Night vision is rubbish.
4.) Fire shots in controlled bursts. If you start spraying with any gun you're pretty much dead.

That's... it.

1. Find a good server with an active admin team, that will help cut down on the cheating problem.
2. Practice a little offline with bots to get a general "feel" of how the game plays (start off with them not having any guns).
3. Get in the habit of moving from cover to cover- being out in the open against an entrenched enemy is usually fatal.
4. Don't expect the weapons to act exactly the same as they do in reality.
5. Every weapon fills a role; find one that suits the role you play best.
6. Don't bother with the Mac-10. It's a piece of crap.
7. USE YOUR EARS. It will sound differently when someone is walking on a wooden floor, concrete, etc. This can tell you exactly where someone is and where they're heading.
8. With automatic weapons, aim for the upper center of the chest and fire in short bursts. The recoil on most weapons will usually land the third or fourth round directly on your target's head.
9. Use a microphone. Call out contacts and enemy weapons. A good team will be able to use the information.

Ahh Counter-strike, one of the games that has a huge ass skill ceiling, very competitive. Basically, you're going to have a hard time in your initial time playing, since people have been playing the game for a long time and will have an advantage. Knowing what guns to use and not use is ideal, but you should also know the maps (At least, the vanilla ones) and know the locations. Learning to deal with recoil and aiming mechanics of this game is also key, but more importantly, using your ears and communicating with teammates are important.

Counter Strike Source is an outdated FPS with a ridiculous learning curve and unforgiving gameplay. But it was a fun game, for the time that I was playing it.
