So I just bought Team Fortress 2.

I just bought it. I know. Where the hell have I been, Yadee Yada. After a buddy of mine was pestering me I finally caved in, and got the Retail copy at the Source for $15.

I finished Installing the CD and now it is updating. And the update is the size of the CD was itself.

I never really understood the game though and what it is about. What is it Exactly?

Also I am new to steam and do not have any games other then the free ones you can get.

I am hoping to get a copy of Portal soon. I played and beat it at my friends house on his Xbox like 5 times and me and him Beat Portal 2 single and Co-Op together.I was gifted! Thank you!

Oh and I got a gift Pass for TF2. Anyone want it?

its a team-based mmo shooter. very very fun.
But I haven't played for ages. The place just turned into wallstreet without the ties. Its all "trading THIS" "trading THAT" just gets in the way of all the fun

It's a multiplayer class and team based shooter.

Like Enemy Territory (but less varied objectives) with No One Lives Forever Evil Genius/Timesplitters visuals (mildly cartoony with slight retro theme) and Quake physics.

Ignore the trading and hats (if that's even possible), it really ruins it. I'd prefer it if everything was unlocked right away and people focused on the actual gameplay instead of getting digital cosmetics. The gameplay really is good enough when your team isn't fannying about trying to look good.

One tip, don't use the heavy, he's worthless. Other classes have their uses (my personal favorite was the pyro), but there is absolutely nothing the heavy can do the other classes can't better.

It's an all-multiplayer team-based game. You pick a class, and then you fight to the death. Or complete objectives. It's pretty well-balanced so there's no way for someone to just go rambo on a team, you actually have to work together a little. But then again, I don't play it much. It's too simplistic for me. I like to either have unique combat or have some way to customize my character. And not with hats, with stuff that actually looks cool.

Also, Steam is awesome! If you like to play a lot of games, you can find some really great deals on stuff. Steam was the only good thing that came out of Fear 2. For me, anyways.

The story is basically, Blu team owns this, and red team owns this. Blu wants reds stuff, red wants blus.
It's quite fun, just find a good server and hang out for a while.

TF2 is a multiplayer (meaning majority asshole) based FPS about losing. Even if you do win, it's a VERY rare occurrence, and all it serves to do is blast your ears with the most retarded mic spam you've EVER heard. Shooting someone rarely does anything, while trying to actually play as a team just gets wiped.

That CTF mode? Don't bother, there's 3+ Engineers with one shot kill turrets just camping and waiting for you to try and take the "intelligence"

Deathmatch? Forget it, if you're not being Scout rushed you're being wiped by some guy that paid $30 for an item set that overpowers his ass. Also the snipers? BS idea, snipers ruin what little of multiplayer games there is. Now you MIGHT get some of the pieces of retard-ware that everyone else has, but it'll take you 2-3 years.

Arena? Two Words: W+M1 Pyro.

Just keep those in mind, plus the fact that there's no actual gunplay involved (it's just spraying and praying) and you should be having some minimal amount of fun in no time. If you don't, the uninstall feature was personally my favorite part of the whole game.

I mean, the heavy was a niche class, over a year ago, but then they buffed his rev up speed, his rev down speed, his spin up walking speed, gave him the gru...

He's pretty much the most powerful class in the game right now.
