So I just finished Mass Effect 3, if you don't know I posted a thread about 50% in detailing my thoughts up to that point. Now the next 49% is awesome with plot twists and fighting/Killing Kai Leng. I at the end had 4987 EMS (Effective Military Score) and everyone loved me. After Getting close the Citadel Laser thing and getting blasted, I wondered, "How did I survive that with minimal injury and magically getting a Pistol (I had a Sniper Rifle and a Assualt rifle, the magnificant Mattock)and..HOLY CRAP HUSKS". In the citadel I went and found Cpt Anderson, who was, also magically without injury (Is it just me or does any else think it's silly that Anderson, the guy who held this all together, rush the THE GIANT DOOM LASER!) and we both talk to the Illusive Man about how much he's indoctrinated, Paragoned my way through that except for the final one which I just said "Fuck it" and shot Illusive in the face.

Here's where it gets...silly. After doing all that, me and Anderson sat down and looked into the death filled space. Then Hackett's all like "Shit Sheperd fix everything we need you to fire the plot device!!!" and after taking the lift up and talking to the Kid or whatever the hell it is decide. or as the kid says , Blow us all up resulting in continued cycle, Enslave us making you all powerful but killing you, and be friends forever and ever in Synthesis...

what...
the...
fuck...

Chose Synthesis after deciding that I want friendship and happiness.
Then OH NO GIANT GREEN EXPLOSION RUN JOKER RU- wait you just crashed? Cool hope I get some ending dia-
NOPE and the game ends
I also got the Buzz Alderan ending thing.

Worst...Ending...in...Mass Effect

EDIT: To Clarify, no I had not read EVERY SINGLE Thread about the ending earlier this year, I did'nt want to spoil anything for myself

You're new here aren't you?

I'd leave it at that but worried about low content reporting so I'll just say people have been talking about it for months, it's finally died down. Please... we don't need to hear about this again... and again... and again.

Welcome to the pain we all felt a few months ago. No amount of thinking about it or trying to work out what the hell Casey Hudson and Mac Walters were thinking will make it better, so don't try :p

A little late to the party. The ending has been discussed to death. sort of like most of the star wars conversations. No one wants to talk about it anymore. Not saying you cannot discuss it, but unless it is something other than rant we already heard it a hundred times over and over again.

No i'm not new and I was there for the Mass Effect 3 uproar, but I view this as kind of a "The dust as settled and NOW lets see the responses" you agree if I posted this a few monthes ago this thread would have 1000+ views of a hundred people screaming "OMFG EA SUX" every...10...seconds

but yea I just finished and I had to post..something!

I've posted this in another thread, but I'll say it again.

Mass Effect 3 is a great game if you play it to live the journey, and not to reach a destination. The destination is a letdown for most people, but it's not so bad if you play for the adventure.

I don't think that's a valid defence.

The "destination" of a story is the climax and the denouement. If you screw up the climax and completely forget the denouement then your story kinda sucks, no matter how good the rest of it was.

Weakest link in the chain and all that.

If I had a lot of fun along the way, who am I to care if the ending blows? I had a lot of fun, therefore the game achieved its goal. When I saw the ending, I was a bit PO'd, but looking back, it was fun as hell.

I had a great time along the way too - I'm ever so slowly edging towards the end in my second playthrough at the moment and for the most part it's still been very enjoyable.

The fact that the ending is horrible doesn't invalidate the fun that I had along the way, but it definitely detracts from the overall experience.

Interesting to note that while some of the frothing at the mouth has died down (don't worry, I'm definitely including myself in that category) time doesn't seem to have actually changed anyone's opinions on how bad it was...

I personally think that the game was streamlined garbage, but i could ignore that, until the ending. Then all of the little problems became bigger and i finally saw what a piece of shit mass effect 3 really was.

I AM HERE WITH THE MEDICINE! STAND BACK GUYS!

Watch this video, it potentially makes the ending awesome, but that all depends on what Bioware does this summer.

Better? Good. Now wait for that DLC.

Way to open old wounds OP

The game did have these real moments of humanity... but the ending kind of ruined everything

I wasn't thinking about the dialogue so much... but Shepard is a bit of an idiot, isn't s/he? There were some moments, like when she found out that she was clinically dead and her whole perception of reality is blown apart or when she tells Ashley to go falate her self, but there were other times... Like the opening sequence, god that was terrible. They kind of dropped the whole paragon/renegade thing... It was weird. That made me look at the rest of the games... and now its ruined forever.

Yes OP, "Dafaq did I just watch?" indeed

While i choose to believe that the indoctrination theory is true (or at least pretend it is because it makes more sense) the problem is that ME3 is still an incomplete game. The game either ends with Shepard indoctrinated or it ends with Shepard waking up in london. The Reapers haven't been defeated either way.

I have this horrible feeling BW are somehow going to screw this ending even more with their summer DLC but i guess we'll have to wait to find out.

Personally I really enjoyed ME3. It had lots of plot holes and the ending sucked but most individual moments of the game were fun, if only BW could string them together.

Saying that though, the Ending has pretty much ruined the series for me. I've replayed the first 2 games literally dozens of times. I had planned to play through them all again with different characters but now there's very little point.

The only thing I have to say about the indoctrination theory is that when it takes a fan 90 minutes to try and explain how to make sense of 5 minutes of gameplay by essentially saying "what if it was all a dream?" then you know that you fucked up.

Does the indoctrination theory make more sense than the actual ending? yes

Is there enough evidence to support the indoctrination theory in the game? yes

Does that include a lot of circumstancial coincidental "evidence"? yes

Did Bioware decide to give us a shit looking ending on the surface and endure the PR shitstorm but secretly be glad that people have worked out the true indoctrination ending that they planned from the very start? No
