Dude, it's just a name. Call yourself whatever you want. I was born Blas, but for as long as I can remember, EVERYONE has called me Blaze. I also us my dad's last name, but my birth cetificate says my mom's.

...but seriously, my Granddad's name was 'Arthur', however all of his life he insisted on being called 'Frank'. It does make things easier legally if you change your name to include Alex, but at the expense of a good story (and not being like Sawyer from Lost)...

My sister does as well.
Strange is no middle name at all. I've only met one person without a middle name.
I say just add Alexander to the end, it makes paperwork easier as you don't need to change anything, but keep going by Alex.
My mate had his name spelled incorrectly on his birth certificate. He changed it and added in a middle name too.
Don't stress too much. I wouldn't change my name personally, but that's because I like all of my names, the middle two also carry personal significance within my family so yeah.
If I did change my name it'd be something like Richard Theodore William Albert Windsor the Fourth or some such. If you're renaming yourself, why not have the same last name as the Royals.
I don't think it really matters. I mean, what people call you and what's on paper doesn't need to be the same, right? There's no need to change anything, but you should probably start using your official, legal name when filling in important documents.

Go with whatever you like more I say. I have a friend who's birth name is David but he, his family, his friends, etc all call him Rob which is his middle name.
