What I always do is lie down on the floor for at least a quarter of an hour, and then go lie in my bed. That makes the bed feel much more comfy.

I fell asleep yesterday afternoon and now my schedule is completely off.

It'll go back again in a few days.

Um. I feel the need to point out anyone who claims to be an insomniac and then goes on to say they go to sleep at 5AM isn't really an insomniac as it usually involves not being able to sleep, that part being pretty much the definition of the word. Likely they are looking for attention (which is pointless as, in todays stressful world it's become pretty common) and are in truth unemployed and sleep all day.

In any case, you're awake now, just go for it and reset your routine. You should be able to sleep a lot sounder the following night. How to pass the time? Well this is just an idea but we are on a website that focuses on videogames...

It sucks screwing with your sleep schedule... I think I've learned that getting only 1 hour of sleep (or less), while still allowing me to function normally throughout the rest of the day, will destroy the traces of insomnia I have and force me to sleep earlier than I wish. Luckily, I've got Mountain Dew to counteract this, so all is good with the world. (I kind of like my not-being-able-to-get-to-sleep. I just call it insomnia since it's a lot shorter. It's kind of like my liking my way-too-fast-metabolism that keeps me skinny. Sure, if I were to wear a skinny shirt to school I'm sure someone would barf on the sight, but at least I stay skinny...)

Am I an Insomniac...yes...is it something to brag about...no. {I do get your point however}
Anyway, been there and done that, unforchantly I also like to procrastinate while I do my work.
Having decided during the writing of one assignment that I wanted to finish it before the weekend (This is thursday evening) I stayed up until that assignment was finished and wrote a 900+ word note on facebook about how shit the assgnment was...anyway I finished around 5am (Coincidence I promise you, I don't make a habit of forcing myself to stay up til that time) then got up o be into Uni at 8am...I was fucked that day I tell you.

how do I handle it....I just live with it unfortunately.

Go for a walk, night time walks are the most relaxing things ever. Unless you live in a bad neighborhood. In which case lock the doors and windows and huddle on the couch with an axe.
