My run-in with the cops was quite funny tho, this was about 5 years ago I was at a party it all turned out good everyone was drinking and everyone was drunk the annoying part is that we had a real ***** living in the apartments above and...well she called the cops and apparently told them that we were doing heavy drugs and shit like that and it ended up with the cops running in scaring the shit out of everyone and everyone at the party was drunk and we didn't understand that the cops had entered so everyone were running around trying to flee the place, in the end no drugs were found but the party ended there:/

Sean Bean. He is also from Manchester, so he may have stolen something at some point.
Sheffield actually, so much less chance. [/joke]

OT: I've never had any run ins personally, but I don't drive or do much wandering around after dark, which seems to drastically increase the odds, especially if you wear a trenchcoat.

I was with my stoner friends, I am not a stoner but they don't spite me for it, they were loitering in a parking lot discussing something or other when a cop came over and started talking to us, he looked down and made eye contact with a pipe they happened to have in their car, it was next to me.

He asked up to step out and asked them if they had anything on them, they said no.

Then I got frisked, it was fairly unpleasant.

Then they handed him the pot that they stupidly had on them, he 'confiscated' it and told them a good place to go smoke that police don't go to very often. Then he jumpstarted their car and let us leave.

I don't hang out with them any more.

I've been searched to many times to count, the curse of being an average looking white guy in crackerville... and I walk everywhere since I don't drive.

I've taken to giving them a hard time in return, being a smart-ass and pushing their buttons. I know my rights and have memorized all the relevant Oregon and federal laws that I like to read off while being a smart ass. Apparently my name is now known in the local group of cops for being a smart-ass. Last time I got stopped and I said my name the cop just said, "oh it's you." Then just got back in his car and left.

I have never had a run in with the Police in a negative way, we do get them knocking at the door often enough, though.
Our house is in a really stupid place on the street and is often mistaken with the house of the same number in the cul de sac just down from us. Now, the couple that live there are fairly volatile. We call them Mr & Mrs Domestic Abuse. They have an argument, start shouting, one of them walks out into the street, the other follows throwing stuff and generally being a nuisance, neighbours call the popo, by the time they arrive Mr & Mrs have gone their separate ways and we get a knock on the door. We direct them to the right house. Sorted.
The actual "city" I live in is a peculiar place, large extended families are more like clans or factions and there is always tension between these families, the street I live is almost like the central hub. There have been armed raids, dog units brought in, guys shooting other guys then strolling to the pub. I live in a fun place.

Stereotypes abound.

I'm of one of those suspicious ethnicities. I grew up in the Bronx, and moved to a rich suburb. I got it every way.

Also, my eyes get really dry really easily. So a lot of people think I blaze often. I don't even drink. I can't count the number of times someone said they were going to call a K-9 unit on me, even though there was no smell of weed on me (and for those of you who were never exposed to weed, that smell sits on your body for days at a time). I told them to go ahead and do so (in a polite way), and they never called my bluff.

Good thing they didn't. I found out while I was getting rid of my car that the times my brother borrowed it, he allowed people who DID smoke weed in my car. I found so many smoked out weed rolls in my car...

I've had a few... One time my mom was home alone (I still lived with her, was doing errands) and she said someone came into the house, She called the police and then me. I showed up a couple of minutes after the police arrived. Of course they treated me like an intruder, I told them I lived there and my mom came out of the house and they asked "Do you know this woman?" To which, being a snarky 21 year old I replied "Nope, never seen her in my life" I of course came around with "Just kidding" hardly a second later.

Another time I was driving to another town to see my then girlfriend, it was the day after valentine's day, because we had a lot of snow on Valentine's day, so I pulled off the interstate and then went down the highway to get to her town (She lived in a small town) and I was going 75 in a (I think) 60. I got pulled over by a cop and he asked me why I was going so fast. I simply explained that I was going to see my girlfriend (I dropped her name, it was a *really* small town and her Dad was known for his BBQ) he told me the slow my roll and go the speed limit at let me go.

All of my encounters have been pretty good, part of that may be because my Brother is tight with the K9 units because he helps run a family owned store in the area alot of the officers buy stuff from.

I wonder if they (or you) would be allowed to press charges against the woman as well. Fabricating a tip, wasting police resources, something like that?

Kinda hard to do that in Sweden, and this happened years ago and most of those I know wasen't treated to badly by the cops even when they got to go to holding cells for drunk ppl
