And I decided to investigate the attic. Upon opening the small door to get up there I was greeted with what looked to be a door and a wall. From the way it's positioned in the attic it seems to cover at least half of my house. The door is made of wood and looks pretty new, but the odd thing is there's no handle. It only opens out, and can't be pushed open, but there's nothing to pull it open with either!

I'm going to investigate it at some point in the next few days when I've finished moving, but the question is this Escapist? What do you think is behind the door? Is it just a brick wall? Is there someone living there? Does a murderer live above me? Should I risk the door, or just bolt the attic shut from the outside?

Will I even be able to sleep at night knowing there's a strange door up there?

Share your thoughts! I shall post again in this topic once I've got up there and had a look around!

Well it will open out into a few ponds that should take you to an ice kingdom followed by earth new world where God a lion will be making shit.

*EDIT* It looks like no one here gets the reference. Can't blame you it wasn't a very good book; they made most of the other books into films but skipped this one. Shame really as its one of the darker of the novels. *EDIT*

Pry bar in the door seam man. Rip that sucker open and hope for pirate treasure. More likely though I suspect finding boxes of useless junk and dead bugs.

You moved into the House of Leaves, didn't you. And now it's going to murder you.

I remember a similar situation in a movie I saw. "A Haunting in Connecticut," which means don't open the door!

And also check the walls for bodies.
Thanks man, I'm gonna have a great time sleeping there tomorrow x.x

Break it open. My guess it it will be a crawl space of sorts, or an unifinished type of room.

Then again, it could contain piping and wiring, so whatever you do, make sure you use plastic to break it open (just so you dont get electrocuted).

Oh, I know, I know! Behind the door, is a mirror and a lightbulb.

If you turn on the light, you'll turn invisible until you turn it off.

But don't use it, if you do, you'll get sucked into the mirror and be replaced by an evil doppleganger!

Have you never watched a horror movie?
THIS IS A TERRIBLE IDEA
I know what you mean, I've seen enough horror movies to be able to tell myself I'm an idiot for wanting to open it.

But you know what? I now understand why people just HAVE to go explore the place you know they will die. There's just a burning need to know, and now I can't think of anything other than getting up there and having a look. Despite the fact that I may never come back from exploring, I just need to know.

The move shall be finished tomorrow, as I'm staying at my mothers tonight. So I shall be able to post what was up here in the next 48 hours!

Quick question what type of house is this? Lots of old town houses often had connected attics. So you may end up in someone else's house.

Why would you do that to yourself? After I'd read the series once the sheer amount relgious undertones put me off. I mean alot of the stuff just seemed like the Bible with a reskin.

It looks pretty new from the outside, I mean I thought it might be a shared attic, and if it is I really got the short end of the deal, but I don't think it's old enough to have a share attic. But that would explain the door I guess, but I don't like the fact that it only opens from the other side. I must know!

I don't see even a possibility of you dying, such things as ghosts don't exist... Probably a hobo, you should call the cops to investigate it and that's about it... You call them "I Suspect that there's a hobo sleeping in my attic, I've heard noises last night" ; ???? ; PROFIT! You don't even have to do it yourself if you're that scared...

Well, there is only one logical answer as to what lies behind that door. Rather than tell you right out, I'd much prefer to give a vague and ironic description of what you are going to find that some people are not going to get, reference-wise.

You will find a parallel world exactly like your own, connected by a long tunnel through a crawlspace. There, you will find your family just as they appear in your own world, but they will have one strange feature: buttons for eyes. They will give you whatever you desire, seeking to do anything to make you happy and keep you there, with them, away from your real family. Treats and goodies abound, indeed.

You may think the entire world is dream come true...

Not really scared, more cautious than anything.

I'd ask whoever lives next door to see if they know and then you can also check if they also happen to be a axe murderer/vampire/demon/ghost/werewolf/evil wizard/witch/warlock/necromancer/very nice person/alien/android/Iphone

well mythbusters proved a man can barge a door open with his shoulders so try that.
or you could get a screwdriver and take the hinges off and shove it down.
or invest in a shotgun and blast the door off its hinges, then dodgeroll to the side and wildly fire at any fast-moving figure flitting for you, or you'll get your blood sucked/turned into a vampire.
