Well done mate, I wish I could give up (actually I didn't smoke for 18month, but something clicked in me and I started again)
I'm not 'ready' to stop yet, but in time I have a feeling I will... again.
I have just spent 5 minutes of my life watching your avatar

Well it is disgusting, everyone knows that. It's inhaling the equivalent of tarmac out of a stick that constantly emits poison fumes.

Quitting is the best thing you can do short of never starting. Well on you.

Congratulations on quitting. It's something that you should be proud of, I don't even know you and I am.

I'm not exactly sure what to say about your family. I guess they think that the fact that you smoked before is much more important than that you quit doing it. Hopefully, they'll see it someday and be proud that you did--if they secretly aren't already.

Congrats! I'm a major anti-smoker but I recognize what kind of effort it takes to quit and always support people that have quit smoking.

First of all, congrats!

I recently quit myself after numerous failed attempts with patches and gum... in the end I did it Kojak style and bought a metric shit tonne of lollys. Smoke free for nearly a month!

Also, I just want to say a big FU to EVERYONE who "looks down their noses" at smokers, to anyone who "doesn't get why you even started in the first place". Smoking is a DISEASE, how we catch it isn't important, but they do need HELP and not SCORN, you don't tell cancer patients that they shouldn't have been stupid enough to get cancer in the first place, do you?
Congratulations on your own effort, we'll all hope it sticks.

And while it is nice to see someone speak out against the blatant hatred and mistreatment that smokers receive, smoking is not a disease, and shouldn't even be rationalized in such a manner; it does us a disservice. Smoking is a conscious choice that is made; It may have been first tried due to peer pressure, and it may be a highly addictive habit, but it's far from a disease by any stretch.

"No one should smoke, they are idiots" anti-smoker? Or "I personally hate smoking, but it's totally up to them" anti-smoker?

Out of curiosity.

The first one, to an extreme. How so?

Awww. That's rather sad.
