And it was probably the most disapointing movie I've seen recently. For those who haven't seen it yet, go do now, the first half is filled with some of the freakiest moments I've ever seen in a thriller movie, HOWEVER stop the movie as soon as you hear the phrase "astro-projection".
Consider this a Spoiler Alert for the rest of the post.
Now, I normally HATE horror/scary/thriller/whatever movies. I hate how most of them just rely on jump-out scares and grotesque dismemberment. I never watched anything that bosted thrills or scares until my friends convinced my to watch "Silence of the Lambs" and I loved it-- mostly because it didn't rely on gore and things jumping out at the audience. A year or two ago, I was then convinced by the same friends to see "Paranormal Activity" with them in the theatre. I LOVE that that too, because it was equal part eerie, HILIRIOUS, and with the right amount of jumping-out at you parts. We later saw "Paranourmal Activity 2", which wasn't as funny-- the pool clean was awesome though-- but it was like playing the most unnerving game of Where's Waldo (or Wally, depending).
So when I heard that the guys from Paranourmal Activity were teaming up with the guys from Saw, I was interested. I got half way in, loving it, it was all the scares I loved from Paranormal, it wasn't funny though. Then the psychic showed up, and it was like they switched the real ending where everyone gets killed with a low budget remake of "Legendary". I was disapointed by the climax, and just wanted it to end. Also, how the fuck don't you hear someone yelling and strangling someone else when they're just in the other room?

So what was your impression of the movie.

I only judge horror films based on the first 45 mins, beyond that I expect disappointment/
its a shame, try killer clowns from out of space, I donno why anyone bothered making any horror films since tbh, aliens was basically justa rip off: D

the last third of the movie was a disapointment but the rest of the film was good and had some good scares that i wasn't expecting; its a good film and when it comes out on dvd just wait till it goes under the £10 mark then it is really worth it

The first part was genuinely creepy and odd, with the red faced demon thing. When he popped up behind the man's head at the table, i think I poo'd myself a bit.

Then it just got laughable, especially when the father went into the demon's world. When he was sharpening his claws I actually laughed as the happy music came on.

Could have been a lot better, but not the worst horror movie I've ever seen.

The last third of the movie really did suck. It almost seemed like they ran out of money or something. The whole astral projection would let them go anywhere and create a terrifying experience so
they decided to make the far realm the same damn house with the lights turned off and a lot of fog
And the last third of the movie felt like I was watching an 80's b film. Much like The Last Exorcism it was doing so damn well and then just tripped at the finish line.

I liked it up until the third act.
If you dare to watch it again, you notice that its really different.
[Camera work is quicker and brighter, movements are double speed like
them rushing back to the real world was sort of like them rushing for
the movie to end]

That's the first thought I had seeing the ads too! I was all 'ummm. hello Mr. Maul, what are you doing here?'

Oh man, killer klowns from outer space is one of my favorite B-Horror movies. So damn hilarious, it brings a tear to my eye.

On-Topic, this movie is in my Netflix queue right now. I was worried about the PG-13 rating, but I figured I'd give it a try.

When it comes to horror movies I'm usually disappointed in them and to be honest I usually just watch them on my PS3 netflix instant queue when I'm really bored. Despite this usual disappointment though, unless it's a bad B-Movie horror, I'm usually lenient. Horror movies only have a few endings in reality. a) The movie cuts off before anything is resolved, b) Everyone dies and it implies the thing that killed them is about to kill more people or at least will in the future, and c) The demon is excorcised, the poltergeist is put to rest, the bad guy is caught, or the monster is killed.

I actually also recently watched Insidious, maybe 4 days ago. I was disappointed that they never really gave you a good look at that guy with the red face. They had clear shots of him, but those were usually just him standing behind someone for a few frames then jumping to the person who saw him being horrified. Ending was the typical "Option A" and you could pretty easily predict it would be.
