Its pretty good.

Is it the best superhero movie? No. Is it the best MCU movie? No. Is it a good movie worth watching? Definitely.

All my own opinion of course, but one I think I share with many (well, relatively many, lots of folks haven't seen it yet).

I can already foresee people complaining about the movie's plot, and to be honest, I would agree with them. The plot isn't as focused as Winter Soldier's, and there are some plot threads that are either disappointing or go nowhere.

But I would say that the story is the only weakness of the film.

The action is great, everything you heard about the airport scene is true. But it is not the peak of the action in the movie, more like a pimple on the hairless chest of a prepubescent. There is just too much to mention, you'll have to watch it yourselves.

There are great performances from all of the cast (thank God they toned down Scarlet Witch's accent), especially from Sebastian Stan and Robert Downey Jr. I was particularly interested by Paul Bettany's Vision, he seems like a much more different character than what we have seen from Age of Ultron.

The film is comedic as Marvel movies are, but they are serious when they need to be.

And now the big question, how are the new characters?

Black Panther is great. Both Tchalla and his alter ego are done well, with him being both likeable enough and almost arrogantly confident. You can definitely believe he is a king. It is pretty confusing how he is inhuman in his physical abilities, but I don't know much about the character. Isn't there some kind of hippie steroid he takes? I am definitely excited to see his solo movie, Wakanda seems like an interesting place. A lot more fantastical than we have seen in the past. With Captain Marvel, Doctor Strange, and Black Panther, I guess Marvel really is confident that no matter how weird they make things, people will still watch their movies.

Spider-man? I love Tom Holland's Spider-man. He is funny, strong as fuck (he probably stops trains for breakfast), and most importantly in my opinion, a bona fide teenager. He isn't annoyingly perfect like Andrew Garfield was, or cringe-worthily pathetic as Toby Maguire. He is just right. Unfortunately his suit does edge into the uncanny valley a couple of times. I blame TASM 2's Spidey suit, literally the only thing done right in the movie. Now Marvel had to go make theirs all different. I like his eyes though, really cool. What about his voice, you say? After all, Mr. Holland is a Brit. Well, I am no American, but I think his voice was fine. On par with Andrew Garfield's American accent, so it is noticeable, but forgiveable.

It must be said that I am very easy to please. I love Winter Soldier more because of it's action scenes than it's story or themes. But I do think this movie is genuinely great, though not as amazing as other superhero movies. Defintely at the upper crust, one might say in the upper crust itself. At the end of the day, it is an MCU movie, and I know that a lot of people are automatically dissuaded by that. But if you're just in it to see things explode ore because you love these version of the characters, then you will enjoy the movie.

TLDR; Pretty good. Amazing action movie, solid superhero movie. Is worth the trip to the cinema.

I was confused...then I remembered that it came out today internationally...and that you're not from the US...and that I hate the irony that Captain AMERICA movies for some reason don't get shown in AMERICA first.

Got over a week before I can see it.

What the issue with the suit? You just don't like the design, or does it seem to be CG too much of the time? I personally love the OG Spidey look.

I forgot to mention, yeah it's pretty much CGI all the time. I am fine with the design, though they could have toned down the random black decals.

Just returned from the theatre myself. It's as dramatically limp as most other Marvel movies, but it delivers solid entertainment. The plot is a sham I'm telling you that much. And if there are kids (11-13 yo maybe) they will get bored halfway and then loudly excited again. Zemo was great, but I have a heavy bias towards Daniel Bruhl (escapist can't spell his name correctly) from Rush (a must see film, btw). I jot out something a bit more detailed once I get home.

EDIT:
The shot after Cap and Carter kiss is bound to become memetic. Speaking of Carter, she was the only "dumbshit" moment in the film as she engaged the fucking Winter Soldier in hand-to-hand combat. And yeah certainly the airport fight is jolly goodness for fans and the general audience, but to me it felt like a scheduled song and dance number. Yeah, cool, next please. The callbacks were kinda cool, and the little depth they added here and there was good, but ultimately it's not enough to make the film stand out very much.
Seven out of ten [sub][sub]people will want an Audi after seeing this movie.[/sub][/sub]

Or, it could be as dramatically engaging as most other MCU films, depending on taste.

I'll see for myself soon enough, as it releases in two days here in the UK.

It's worst for us Canadians. We're not part of the US, yet for some reason everyone treats us as if we're part of the US domestic.

It's just not fair, why the hell does an American movie staring American actors made by an American company about American stories have Americans be the last group to see it? We live in an era of digital distribution, piracy alone makes it not only illogical but downright insane to not have a global release world wide on the same day.

I've seen people use the argument that it's because of different holiday weekends, but that doesn't make any sense if you remember the fact that people who want to see a movie are going to see it whether it's a regular weekend or a 3 day weekend. If they want to see it, they're going to see it. If they don't want to see it, they won't. There's no economic argument for differing release dates.

Oh yeah, sure. Like Pontiac Firebird could be a cool sportscar, depending on taste. Never mind me and my elitism. The movie meets expectations for pretty much everyone.

It's a countermeasure against piracy. Bootlegs are as strong a market as they've ever been in the Third World.

But that doesn't make any sense because the bootlegers are still going to get it, but now the market that can most afford to watch it illegally with one of the highest rates of people who are tech savy enough to watch it at all illegally is being intentionally kept out of the market that everyone else is being allowed to view legally.

If it was the entire first world that had this in effect, then it would make sense in the irrational business misunderstanding of the market type of way, but it's only Canada and the US, so the internal logic doesn't hold on its own, to say nothing of the actual rational behind it.

I'm just repeating what a Fox exec told me in an interview, really. It makes just enough of a difference that they keep doing it.

And then there's Millenial!Spiderman
Don't use that word, it's a dumb word for dumb people.
People born from '86-'95 weren't born at the turn of the millenium, we didn't come of age at the turn of the millenium (That would be the parasites of Gen X) and we have no affiliation to that meaningless event.
The appropriate terms are "Generation Y, Generation G, and The Best Generation".

Born in 92 and thank you.

Also well it looks like Tobey Maguire is still the master Spiderman, he has the best look and the best suit.

Are you actually trying to call Deadpool a "mature" film? I'm sorry, but the fact that you think something is a kids movie simply because people are not swearing or murdering tells me you're about fifteen. Whether that is physical or mental I don't know, but Civil War is 100% more adult than Deadpool.

I saw it last night. I'd give it 8/10 - pulp action cinema at its finest. Not particularly clever or insightful, but entertaining and technically well done. Better than the last few Marvel movies, but not as good as Winter Soldier.

I fear that they'll never be able to top Winter Soldier, at least for me personally.

Oh cry me a river. Us Brits has since long endure the bottom tier when it come to movie release dates on which countries. Films like Zootopia, Big Hero 6 and one of the previous Marvel (or a non Marvel) movies came to the UK months after it was release in the state!

OT- I liked it more than Age of Ultron due to being somewhat dark/ edgy per say.
It been a while since I recalled a movie that had a theme on hate (Ok that woman hate toward Stark was convenience since he build Ultron by accident but why single him out? Did she know he build him? Tony could had forgive Bucky seeing how he just played into Zemo hand but he keep mentioning over his guilt and mental state. Zemo hate was justify and hey if he was ale to find solace at it somehow then it wouldn't happened other than Scarlet accidentally killing those Wakandas . At least Black Panther walked out of it).

Zemo plan was completely different from the previous villain in that it didn't involve Earth and in a way he did win. It did feel like the film was based on Avenger Dissemble given to the aftermath of it all. Now I think about it, it did feel like it was Dissemble then it was Civil Wars. Ok yes I know the registration act was the center point of the film and while it did have the Avengers, Captain America was the main character.
I mean who's left in the team now? Iron Man rejoined the team per say (it was Cap team after Ultron), Black Widow and Vision? War Machine is recovering and I think Black Panther is not concern on the world affair and I doubt Tony want to roped in Peter again! How will the Avenger come back after all this? Tony team get their arse kick and Cap saved them while forgive each other past? The registering will not dissapear so easily!

Speaking of Zemo, did he had the ability to change his face cos he took that questioning guy easily and that other scene he look like one of the other Winter Soldiers?

I also liked how it all tied into together and showcasing the other upcoming Marvel film (well except for Dr Strange)-
Black Panther- The film pretty much worked on why he is involved and the lead up to his own film. I wonder if his upcoming film will solely be a solo film or with him and the other non register Avengers members.
Ant-Man- Showing off his new ability aka Giant Man (still he should of seen it coming with the AT-AT reference like couldn't he ripped the webbings around his legs out?). Still I wonder how his sequel film will work? He left Wakanda and is still on the run from the law?
The film version of "Redwing" is a step up from the comicbook which he did had a pet falcon that he can somehow see from that bird perspective. The drone made so much sense given to their uses these days.
Also that Vision and Scarlet Witch scene was a nice potential romance like they had in the comic (don't asked me how it work).
Oh it was awesome how they took a couple of shot from the Civil Wars comic like that front page cover (Iron Man beam is being block by Cap shield) and when you think Cap was dealing the final blow (I was expecting Tony to say "what are you waiting for" like in the comic).
Iron Man- Finally a conclusion over his promise to Pepper on Iron Man 3 (they're on a break).

On the other side, I did feel Spider-man involvement was pretty much an extra/ deleted scene. By all means I like their version of Spidy but he was a minor at best (also I starting to agreeing with that guy whose say they just keep making Aunt May younger). I mean I can guess the original scene that when the need more backup, Black Widow went to Black Panther.
Also the clear difference from the previous non Marvel films was a nice change (he's new to the game). Lastly does Sony hold the right to "With great powers come great responsibility"? I feel that would had been alot easier to says than whatever he said in the film when Tony asked him why he is a superhero?

I was expecting the film that maybe Cap goes to the UN himself and speak publicly about the acts and why he is against it. That way he could get a rally of the public that support him and are against it. I mean what is the future of Steve Rogar now? He become the Normad? (At some point in the comic, he no longer bear the mantle as Captain America so he took on a new name and also the Government replace him with a mor Government sponsor cap called U.S Agent.)

Lastly on the whole registering itself. It was stupid to blame it entirely on the Avenger. I mean seriously if they weren't there when the invasion started, the casualty would had be worse and I agreed with inu-kun that despite Scarlet accident, she did save more lives than the actual death (she could however gone to that signing to actual apologise to the King herself over their deaths than letting Black Widow doing it!). On the other side I do agreed that the Avengers should do more on the recovery side as Zemo said, after the Ultron incident, they just pack up and leave. I mean in the Uk, the Prime Minister visit the victims from the flooded towns and village and Obama did visit the people whose lost their homes from the tornado and other disaters and yet they didn't casue it (I mean yes they do have the powers to help them recover).

Just got back from seeing it and yeah enjoyed it quite a bit. Not sure where I would rank it on the Marvel movies scale the one thing I would say though is that the assembling of the two opposing sides of the argument at the airport prior to the big mid movie fight gave me the same tingles that the Avengers Assembling in New York did, you all know that scene!

I would agree that the plot fell a little flat, I was expecting a big game changer and to be honest the result didn't really end up that way but I did like the little twist near the end of the movie, maybe I was blinded or just having fun at seeing all these folks beat on each other but I somehow didn't guess it.

Also gotta say I loved the amount of screen time that each character got, no one seemed to get too much screen time or focus (given that the last two Avengers movies have been easily over shadowed by Iron Man / Tony Stark) I loved that this didn't feel like Iron Man featuring The Avengers. On the other hand given that it's a Captain American title it didn't feel like he got as much focus as he should. Saying that liked loved Antman, loved Spidey and given that Batman Vs Superman turned in to an utter cluster fuck and had only 4 main big names in it (Sups, Bats, Lex and Wonder Women) the fact that this had, I dunno at a guess 10 maybe more 'mains' in it and somehow wasn't an utter cluster fuck is frankly amazing.

Some spoiler about the plot

So yeah no big game changers, Rodey get's badly injured by Vision while he is too busy getting a boner over Scarlett Witch. Was kinda hoping that the main bad guy was going to be some deep cover Hydra Agent or in some way linked to Hydra, only problem being that I had watched the latest episode of Agents Of Shield in which they have all but wiped out Hydra. Really was dis appointed to find out he was just some guy who lost his family during Age Of Ultron. He also seemed to start a plan for revenge based on an end of movie plot twist that when he started the plot he could not have possibly known about. The whole premise for his plans seemed to hinge on him finding out about this big twist. So yeah a little dis-appointed that this so called nobody somehow managed to turn The Avengers on their head.

I disagree! The boobies ratio in the two movies clearly indicates that Deadpool is more mature than Civil War! Civil War has zero boobies! Deadpool has many boobies! That's an infinite increase in boobage by comparison! Boobies = Mature.
