And despite it being around 30 years old, I loved it. It's really held up well for it's age.

I loved the villains in it, they were crazy, but not the crazy you see in films these days, creepy crazy. They were also the first villains in a long time that I've actually been like 'Yeah, kick their asses god dammit! Kill 'em all!' It kept making me nervous when they were near that woman and kid and each time she'd get away and I'd be like yay ^_^ Then BAM, and I was like 'omfg no way' and it made me sad.

Tomorrow I shall watch the second one, and maybe the third if the second is as good as the first. I do enjoy some dystopian/post apocalypse films!

Whilst this topic may not really have much of a point other than 'Yay, a good villain and an ol timey movie made me happy' I just thought I'd share it with you all since it's 3am and I can't sleep.

Also, do the films get worse with each sequel? Or are they the rare few that stay the same if not better? And please no spoilers!

:O I watched it recently too... I don't feel the same way however...

I thought a lot of the production and editing felt dated, the pacing was fairly slow and it wasn't very exciting even in the climax... as for the apocalyptic crumbling world I never got a good feel for it... it just felt like the 1970's if everyone was a car and S&M fetichist... it's not bad but it's no classic IMO...<.<

I've heard the second one is awesome and basically stands on it's own as a classic... but I heard the third was basically a joke...

Ive heard that they get worse over time, but, like you,I have only seen the first film. Ive heard OK things about the others, but, from the small tidbits i've seen, it doesnt seem on the same calabar as the original.

Also, sorry for double post, You must take in to concideration that this film is Fairly Old, and was basiclly a "Indie Film" of the time, With low production values.

I have to agree with you on those points. It was badly edited and produced, and the ending didn't have the all mighty ass whooping it needed, but I felt the the biker gang really did well and I think they are the reason I liked it so much.

The second one is very different from the first. It is a lot more apocoliptic. The third one is worth watching but it is one and two that are the keepers.

Yeah but I take no prisoners... something can be good for what it is, but if what it is is a snuff porn or something that doesn't make it actually good...<.<

That's not to say I didn't like Mad Max... I thought it was pretty good just not amazing or mind blowing in any sense of the word...

I have seen all three. The second one is definitely the best. The third one is pretty campy; you should watch it just to see some of the crazy stuff in it.

Yeah the biker gang was fun especially the leader who seemed to really be having fun with the role...

Most people tend to like The Road Warrior better than the original Mad Max.
