Carrying an umbrella around instead of a cane is probably a good idea if you need to deal with criminals and suchlike, because they'll likely feel less confident if your need for a cane is not immediately apparent.

Not to mention, you'll always have an umbrella handy!

nothing with an image of an animal carved onto it... just a little much. Get something made of nice material. One of the regulars I talk to at my restaurant has a cane made out of whale bone or something. Take whatever is the most comfortable

but also- learn A LOT of stories to be able to tell at a hitch, about anything. It'll make the cane so much more badass
