I've never passed out. The closest I've come was in Bio 20, when we watched a kidney transplant. I was fine until the last ten minutes or so (it was over an hour long) then I got cotton mouth, fought nausea and got reaaaaally tired.

Video: "Do we need this? Nahhhh...

Me: "hurgklablergl"

The big question is: Did you pass out because of the scene? Or because of some other medical reason?

You may have had a seizure or an epileptic attack. Not all are classified as 'shaking uncontrollably'. Some are called 'space out seizures' and involve staring at thin air and going limp or sitting there and licking your lips uncontrollably. All usually go from 'weird feeling in head' or 'images in head' and result in coming to minutes later without realizing someone was wrong.

Medication can bring these on, as can lack of sleep and intense dehydration. I'd see a doctor if you ever experience that again or are worried at all.

Alien(s): Planet LV-246
It's actually LV-426. Also, it's not a planet. LV-426, or Acheron, is a moon orbiting the planet Calpamos in the Zeta Reticuli system.

LV-223 and LV-426 are two of the three moons orbiting Calpamos.

I was covering my girlfriend's eyes, since she doesn't like that sort of stuff.
I found this kinda strange. You actually physically cover your gf's eyes during scary things?...like, doesn't she have working eyelids?

If you passed out it was probably a combination of factors that you could never reproduce. Not enough sleep + too little blood sugar + a general dislike for surgery + high humidity + too much salt on the popcorn.

I wouldn't worry about it too much.

I never passed out from something like that but I have passed out several times from a workout. Mostly I guess it might be from dehydration or my body not being able to stay cool enough. Anyway the sucky thing is that it occurs a while after when I thought I felt fine. It get to the good while where I know I'm going to pass out and just need somewhere safe to lie down.

the only time i felt uncomfortable was when i watched the twist to everything is illuminated.

the squid scene was not that disgusting. maybe because i was laughing that Charlize Theron brought a surgical bed for men. how did she not check this? or is she a he/she?

and the bed did a fucking terrible job in fixing her. he could have used duct tape. it would be as efficient as his stapling. and it is strange that it didnt even care to use anesthetics.

the human centipide was just disgusting, not in terms of gore but the fact that someone thought it would be a good idea to make such a movie.

just like hostel and a serbian film. both with nothing interesting to tell.

this was my only reaction to all this dumb movies that take themselves too serious:
but i havent been physical ill watching a horror flick.

maybe it caught you off guard? or you have problems with your blood pressure..
The bed was for Weyland,... that old man that appears shortly afterwards before heading back to the ship. No one knew he was on board bar a few key staff (her, the android and a few others).

The machine was for use in emergencies and believe it or not, staples are actually used in surgery, though I recommend you don't google that. As long as the wound is sealed (and the staples are sterile) then such a patch up is fine.

The spray across her belly was a local anaesthetic.

There are plenty of ways to break apart the logic in that film but the ones you mentioned aren't any of them.

OP: That sounds like some seizure... have you suffered from epilepsy at any point before? I can't tell for sure, and my medical opinion is worth shit, but this seems like an epileptic fit to me.

Passing out with eyes open is usually a serious sign. It does not instantly mean that something bad is going on, but it means that it might have a physical cause. to put it crudely: Fainting because you see blood is for example does not have a phyisical cause done with eyes closed. Be aware that the difference isn't exactly clear cut and just as a side note: diseases without a measurable cause can be pretty serious too and are difficult to treat.

Anyways, fainting with open eyes and just being totally unreachable (so not reacting even when your girlfriend is screaming at you and stuff) for five minutes could indeed be epilepsy. As some have said before me: Go see a doctor

Had one near-faint experience. Saw my dad in the ICU after some heart surgery, and... I think it was when I noticed a machine was basically breathing for him, that I had a "bad trip". It was quite vivid; the color seemed to drain from everything, and bleed out as a shimmery aura around objects. And of course the basic light-headedness and my ears kinda closing up... had the presence of mind to take mental notes of it all, but also to squat down before I keeled over. Once some of the doctors saw me, they scooted me a stool and a cup of water. :p

As for you, OP: I grew up with epilepsy (grand mal seizures hit me whenever I tried to sleep), so I'd advocate caution and get checked out. It may have been nothing, but if it was, a seizure could hit you in a situation where you wouldn't wake up- like if you're driving, or completely alone and end up choking on your own tongue or something. o_o

I went dizzy when I watched The Human Centipede 2 a while ago. I've always been okay with gore and stuff, so I figured it wouldn't bother me.

It did. It bothered me a lot. D:

So don't fret too much about it. If you are worried, you could always go to your doctor and ask, but that's if it's really bothering you.
You actually watched that film? Come Manchester, we are going to have WORDS. Even glancing at the screen when that abomination is on is simply validating its existence, and that is just unacceptable...

[/film pretentiousness] ;D

J/k, of course. Seriously though, I've never passed out or come close to it when watching a film, though I was creeped out by that abortion scene too, massively so. Also, it looked like a cross between a vagina (naturally, being an Alien-mythos film...) and a squid. Well, at first, that is... ;P

That being said, I did pass out once for no apparent reason, at home. I was in the bathroom, a few years ago, and just suddenly felt woozy between using the toilet and washing my hands. Next thing I know I wake up on the bathroom floor, about five minutes have passed, and yet no-one else in the house heard anything like a bang as I hit the ground or anything. It's never happened since, and I still to this day have no idea why I blacked out then, but nevertheless...

As I came to, I awoke with tingling arms and legs and blurry vision, as my girlfriend was yelling at me and almost crying and on the screen there was what I think was a bunch of guys shooting guns.
Anyway, according to her, I lolled my head back with my eyes open and my tongue hanging out for nearly five minutes, whilst she told me to stop it, eventually freaking out and yelling at me and hitting me to try and wake me up.
That...that doesn't sound like passing out. I think you might want to see a doctor, because I'm not a doctor myself, but that sounds like a low-grade seizure to me, especially with the open eyes and protruding tongue.
Woah. . . Okay thanks dude. o.o
My question is though; how could something like that possibly bring on a seizure? Especially in someone like me, with no history or family history of that sort of illness. Like seriously, noone ever has has a seizure in my entire family.

Don't watch that scene in Black Hawk Down where they preform surgery on someone's leg. I certainly couldn't.
See that's the weird thing! I've watched horribly gory scenes before. I love Black Hawk Down. The scene where they have to try and find and clamp his leg artery is really intense but I've never had anything like that happen to me before.

Haha well it's the sort of thing where she grabs my hand and puts it over her face, because she doesn't want to be scarred, but she knows she can't trust herself. ;P

This is also a very good point. I didn't eat a anything before I went to watch it except a sausage mcmuffin and a coffee. I had to get up early that day, hence why I was in the area and thought "hell, lets just go to the movies, it's cheap tuesday." and I HATE medical scenes. However it was an air conditioned cinema, as the all are, I had a bag of choc bullets which I scoffed down and a Dr. Pepper to drink, and didn't have any popcorn ;P

If you're serious on your post I'd consider going to a physician instead of asking about the internet... It might be nothing... It might be something. If you have something you'll want to know sooner rather then later. I hope everything works out fine with you! Good luck... =)
