So I recently found out that I won't be able to play Skyrim, after preordering it.

I've been waiting for this game for a long time and now I can't play it. Because my pc is toast, I still have my laptop but my laptop is barely fit for Oblivion, let alone Skyrim. The moment Ifound out it felt like a part of me died. And the worst thing is that I have preordered it so not only can I not play it I also have to hold the game in my hands knowing that I can't open it if I still want to sell it for a reasonable price. I need something to replace it ASAP, I currently feel like I've been diagnosed with something horrible and I need something to banish that.So in conclusion, anyone got something to replace Skyrim, some good mods for Oblivion (I have only played vanilla) or maybe some older games.

For those who didn't read the whole thing: What should I replace Skyrim with or what would you replace Skyrim with?

Edit: My friend came through, Skyrim is cancelled which makes me both sad and happy. Focus on game suggestions people.

Do you have any consoles? If so, you could always swap versions. My suggestion: Replace Skyrim with Skyrim.

how about swapping your preorder for that of a different system? like PS3 or 360 if you have 'em... (i hear the 360 version has avatar awards)

[quoted so you'd get the notice]

You know, it is too bad I didn't read this thread sooner because I just gave away my old gaming computer for basically nothing. I would have donated to you if you paid shipping and it was basically Skyrim ready(Albeit at probably medium graphics).

Well, I'm still stuck with my horrible laptop, I doubt that it'll be able to play either one of those.

Well I let my friend preorder it on some site which was cheaper but it's too late to switch for some reason (according to my friend).

Not sure how you'd feel about this- but why not go over a friend's house and ask permission for you to download it onto their PC or laptop? I bet they'd love the game, while keeping a separate profile from yours so it won't interfere with your guys' characters.

That, or save up money/want a new laptop for Christmas. It's a month away thus I truly hope the best for you since that would seriously tear me apart inside knowing such a legacy was not going to be playable to me since something went unstable on me.
On your first suggestion, it's plausible but I wouldn't feel comfortable just coming there to play my game. Also I'd be there way to often. On your second suggestion, I'm currently trying to persuade my brother into buying a PS3 together but he's not fully trusting my plan, "How do I know if GTA V will come out on the PS3?" "Aren't games way too expensive on the PS3?" etc. etc.

Wait, hold on... So what exactly "toasted"? Because unless it spontaneously combusted, I doubt every component in your PC is as "toast" as you think...
Haha to be honest, I don't know shit about computers but it's what my brother told me. On a sidenote, the computer had a long history of freezing over and shutting down out of nowhere so I guess it shouldn't really have been a surprise that something finally gave in.

Thank you dude, as my granny always told me "It's the thought that counts".

Can't you cancel your preorder and get your money back?
Nope, but even if that would be possible, I still wouldn't be able to play Skyrim *snorts*.

What is wrong with your computer exactly? It is unlikely the entire thing crapped out. If only one piece died on you, just replacing it might not cost you that much at all. What exactly were the issues? Is this a laptop or a desktop?

98.5% sure that's bullshit, I don't know a single site that charges you before they ship the item. Considering the game hasn't even launched, you can still cancel the pre-order and order another edition.

Uhm, every single GTA game has come out for PS, so it's definitely gonna be on PS3 (Sony said they're not gonna do PS4 yet). As for the price, the difference is not that big and if you ask me, PS3 has the best console exclusives.

That's some highly technical lingo he's using there, can you ask him to simplify it for us uneducated folk by using smaller words like "graphics card", "processor" and similar? :p

Seriously, just see what's busted and replace it. Unless it quite literally toasted (caught on physical fire), I doubt you're looking at a big investment (depending on what quality PC you've got).

Get over not being able to play a video game and replace the void with the blood of goats?

That or trade in versions. Sacrificing goats or trading versions are both acceptable.

Desktop, I've asked my brother again and apperently it's the video card that died. In all likelyness the cause of the breakdown was a spilled glass some time ago. But I don't know if it's worth replacing the thing because I don't know in what kind of state the rest of the PC is.

Just putting this out there... Try to fix your computer?
Well, I don't know if it's worth repairing, maybe it's better to just gather some money the next couple of months and look for a new one because the pc has always been unreliable.

About the preordering, I've been texting my friend but he keeps telling that it's not gonna happen since I already paid but I'll ask him for the site and see for myself.
About GTA V, my brother meant "does it come out on this Playstation (3) or on the next Playstation".
And apparently it's the graphics card that broke down a week after a glass of cola was knocked over but again I don't know if the computer is worth saving.

My neighbours have bunnies, will those please them or does it have to goats?

Get the hard copy, trade it in for a lot of cash or for the game on another system if you have one. Maybe a store will let you trade it in for another Skyrim if you don't open it, who knows?
I'd say go to the site and contact them, explain your situation, and maybe they'll let you switch it if it's too late to cancel. You never know until you try.

This my current plan exactly.
