But I don't have a clue of what character to play.
Any suggestions?

Also, any good mods anyone knows of?

There is that compilation that gives the game a face lift. I always roll a thief/assassin/vampire.

I never go by the standard classes, I always tweak my own. I like to balance myself between Combat and Stealth. Makes for a fun game, and no one can stop you! Mwahahahahaha!!! Or you know, you can sneak up on people and score huge damage due to combat proficiency.

I also love to steal in video games... I think I'm an in-game kleptomaniac... Should get that checked out

Oh, and if you have both expansions, be a werewolf!!!

Character ideas:
Dunmer Paladin/Crusader with ties to House Redoran and the Tribunal Temple.
Khajiit Agent/Assassin with ties to House Hlaalu and the Morag Tong.
Imperial Knight/Paladin with ties to the Imperial Guard and the Imperial Cult.
Altmer Mage with ties to the Mages Guild and House Hlaalu.
Breton Spellsword/Battlemage with ties to House Telvanni and the Fighters Guild.
Mod ideas:
None, I play simple, unmodded GotY.

The ultimate build ... start by minimising class skills (no matter what they actually are).
Gain +5 endurance per level until maxed, along with +5 in another stat and +1 luck.
Get 100 in every skill and stat.
Be a Breton with Atronach to be even more silly overpowered.

Then, make all that work pointless by crafting a stealth suit (120% chameleon).

Hmm, maybe that's not the right way to do things.

Go the the Bethesda Forums. For Morrowind, there literally thousands and thousands of mods. You could simply never play the game again what with options from mods. This is what happened to me, I never finished the game.

If you've played the usual mage/warrior/thief archetypes already then I suggest roleplaying something unique, like a monk specialising in using fists only, or an evil cult worshipper specialising in summon spells. That kind of thing. As for mods go for the better faces and bodies ones, but there are loads available.

I usually play as a dunmer stealth\illusionist that uses short blades. If
I set it up properly, I can do just about anything with it.

Make sure to find a copy of the Morrowind 2011 mod pack, as well as mournhold expanded. Aside from that, just get any mods that look good.

This. But I think you'll be surprised by how many people aren't in-game kleptomaniacs. Every time I play Fallout 3, I basically steal everything in sight... well, that can be applied to every RPG I've ever played, so hey.

OT: Customise your character from the off and arse about for half an hour (I went mass hybrid once - stealth/offensive magic/heavy CC for the hell of it - didn't level up well of course, but loved the challenge). Always surprised how much you can leach from just that first settlement you're at.

I always get weird looks for this, but am I one of the (very) few who preferred Oblivion?

I always liked being a Nordic MeleeCaster style

Then I was taught how to Soulbound myself and the game changed to Soul Trapping high end monsters to myself and then harassing guards...

OH THE MEMORIES!

I loved taking a night out of Morrowind to turn into a werewolf and see how long you could survive. Alot of guard on the mainland don't have silver weapons, so with the melee, health, and other bonuses, it's fun to attack a city as a werewolf, kill off a ton of people, run away, and come back at day and have everyone be all nice.

Long as people don't see you change, no one knows...

Before you even start considering mods, get your hands on the Morrowind Graphics Extender (MGE). It makes everything look better and even increases the maximum resolution from 1024x768 to numbers unknown.

Just look it up on youtube. It looks amazing.
