theres also star wars the clone wars which has a pretty good over arching story but some weak episodes.

I used to like the series but I find it to be near unwatchable due to 90s quality CG these days. They fucked up by trying to show how up to date they were with their fancy technology, now 20 years later it's just a sore thumb screwing up whatever they set forth to accomplish.

If you're wanting more shows like Firefly (not in concept, but in brilliance), check out Arrested Development.
Also, totally check out Cowboy Bebop. It's the closest thing I can possibly think of to Firefly.
