Eh. I see no reason in liking or disliking something because you feel like you should[n't]. I like Pokemon and would probably enjoy MLP if I watched it, even though I'm 21. I see no shame in that. The idea that anything cute has an age limit is absurd and archaic.

I think I've repeated this post twenty times, but once again, for the laughs -
Great voice acting, good drawing, else is shit.
It's animated in Flash...so no real drawing. Not that that's a bad thing, I'm something of a brony anyway.

EDIT*for discussion value* What was it like to watch MLP for the first time
That's how i felt after watching the first couple episodes. But then I kept watching and eventually i came to like it. I think the only reason I didn't admit to liking it at all before is that I thought it was girl's only show and that if others found out about this then I'd be laughed at and considered to be weird. Then I realized, fuck those people. If I genuinely like doing something and no-one is getting hurt by it, then what's wrong with that?

Basically what I'm trying to say is if you enjoy doing something and others are telling you you're weird for doing it just ignore them (and maybe give them the middle finger) and enjoy your life.

Also, the show's alot more fun if you can find other people who enjoy watching it and watch it with them. If you can't then i suggest finding the episodes on youtube and occasionally looking down at the hilarious and agreeable comments for the video. Oh and while your at it notice the demographics for the show.

I watched, I liked it. Not enough to suddenly become a fan or something. I see it more like a family movie, like the ones pixar makes. It's surely aimed at children, but there is some appeal to adults in there.

Care to elaborate instead of trolling? Possibly provide some actual discussion value to this thread instead of trying to make fun of bronies?

Like their twitter account, amirite?

Seriously though for everybody, whatever. It's a damn TV show. I enjoy it, but it's still a TV show. It's not the end of the world.

................. I don't know... In the beginning, I was like "Meh, why not watch some of that pony show cause there's nothing else to do". It was just a reason to stare at the monitor for another 20 minutes. I wasn't even paying attention.
But with time I slowly got attached to the characters and the jokes made me grin or even Laugh. And after the end of each episode I felt like from that moment my day will be perfect.
Now I watch an episode every morning. Currently rewatching the season for a fourth time.

It's just basically a good quality show all around. Good animation, good writing, good voice acting, etc. Usually you wouldn't expect a show meant to sell pony toys to little girls would have any further value to it, but they decided to make it good anyways.

Funny thing is, I didn't detect very much adult humor. Maybe a couple of subtle implied references to adult content that goes over the kids' heads, but other than that it's almost 100% kids content... which makes it fairly unique for a kids show with a large adult following. I guess it's more like they set up situations which make sense for a kid, but have further deeper meaning when you think them through from an adult perspective. Like the episode where Rarity is designing the Grand Galloping Gala costumes. Totally rings true for anyone who works in an industry where the client has artistic input. (as a web programmer, I totally identified with Rarity there)

Okay bad stuff now:

A couple of episodes seemed kinda preachy to me. Like the episode with the Zebra. Yeah, racism is bad, I get it. And wow, these are some really freakin' racist ponies.

And the episode with Pinky Pie's future-predicting power. Yeah, religious tolerance, I get it. And being an atheist myself, I don't really like the anti-skeptic message of that episode.

And they didn't even try to hide the cowboys and indians allegory in the episode with the Buffalos. Once again, freakin' racist ponies.

Also... Spike. Is it just me or does Spike represent everything wrong with Equestria's class structure? He was literally enslaved from birth. And though he's been developing friendship with the ponies, you can see from their interactions with other adult dragons that the moment Spike matures they're going to cast him out like yesterday's garbage. Freakin' racist ponies.

Oh my god, I think way too much about this damn show.

Confound these ponies!

My first time watching it (god i'm sounding like i'm talking about losing a virginity)I was bored, alone and i wanted to see what the fuss was about so i watched the first episode and i was like "This seems okay" then "Holy shit there's a plot?" so i decided to watch the end of the first and the second episodes (since it was like 2 episode for the one narrative) then when more of these free time periods popped up i just thought "that pony cartoon wasn't that bad, i'll go and watch the next episode or something". so now you know and knowing is half the battle.

wouldn't it be a cure for bronyitis? I mean as far as I know you can't cure the study of something.

You watched King of the Hill instead? I've not watched MLP yet, nor do I plan on doing so, but I think I would sit through MLP rather than King of the Hill any day. Hell I'd sit through MLP over Futurama too...

All in all, it's a somewhat above average cartoon in this day and age....but that's it.
It doesn't really deserbe half the attention it has got from people over the age of 15.

Same OP- I thought if it I was gonna trash it I should at least try it, it was funny in places and definately more intelligent/less insufferable than 90% of kids tv.
But the fact its aimed at little girls is all so painfully obvious and the cliched "be true to yourself" saccharine BS made me gag.
But to be honest as always its the "hardcore" fans of something that make it hateworthy, Im of course talking about the ones that act like their brave, gender stereotype challenging iconoclasts for liking it.
Really couldn't have put it better myself.

MLP hype is just that: hype.

I thought it was going to be a terrible toy commercial. As it gained popularity, I figured it must be a good kids show, but doubted it would be any more then a kids show. Then I watched it...During the 2 parter, I thought that hey, this is definitely a kids show, not my thing, but I can see that it is well done. Shortly after watching it, I found myself thinking about it. Worst of all, I realized that I remembered the names of all of the characters, and all of their personalities. Curious, I watched a few more episodes...and then, I became a fan, completely unexpectedly.

As for your experience, kudos on your ability to identify the good points of the show without bias, and if you don't want to watch it, that doesn't hurt me, you, or anyone else. Good on ya for giving it a shot.

...and? This thread has no point. You watched it and didn't like it. Congratulations, you have an opinion. Also, did you have to throw in that last line taking a shot at fans? Classy.
