For the moment keep it for the DS backlog and games coming up, like Luigi's Mansion or something like that. There are decent enough downoadable games and some old games that are worth playing. Regarding the GBA, although the virtual console (the emulator, basically) can play GBA games, there aren't any on the shop yet. The only ones so far were given to people who bought it before the price drop.

As for DS games:
The Ace Attorney series*
9 hour 9 persons 9 doors (that might be out of order. also, the sequel is going to be on the 3DS)
Hotel Dusk Room 215*
The Professor Layton series
Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective*
Any pokemon games. Recommend Black and White.
any of the Castlevania games
Elite Beat Agents*
Yoshi's Island DS
Chrono Trigger

* = highly recommended

In terms of actual games for the 3ds, then get these; resident evil: revelations is a game that has the awesome atmosphere of the old games whilst keeping the good controls of the later games, it's better than resided evil 5 and is one of the most overlooked games I've seen. Super mario 3d land is an amazing platformer, that actually shows how 3d can be used to enhance gameplay. Kid Icarus uprising isn't as repetitive as resonance said, I would compare it to star fox in terms of quality. On the eshop you need to get: vvvvvv, a very challenging but very very fun platformer. Pullblox, one of the best puzzle games I've played in ages (if you can get over the japaneseyness of it). Colors 3d is an amazing art tool, that let's you draw 3d paintings and make amazing pieces of art if you don't want to do that.

There's loads more. Frankly there are so many games for the 3ds that are overlooked because people don't want to use the 3d function, which is optional anyway.

I was never really much on Nintendo games, with the exception of the "Secret of" games that came out on the SNES, But I forgot that Chrono Trigger was on the DS. I'll be needing that.

I'm not really sure I could ever really get back into Pokemon anymore though. They added all of these retarded ones and now I can't keep up with the little bastards. Sweet Jesus I feel old.

Thanks for all of your suggestions, guys! I'll certainly look into them. :3

3D is a gimmick. trade it in for one that can play GBA games. Or just trade it in for cash.
According to work, this thing is earmarked at a $200+ value, if I trade it in, I'll probably only GET the value of a DSlite, which is EOL and discontinued. I'll probably keep the 3D feature disabled, but I'm not going to get rid of it.
EDIT: Sorry Resonance, I'm still getting used to the weird new interface.
ok is there a game stop near you? if so you can trade it in for $100 cash or $150 store credit (at least you could a week ago) but seriously thats your best bet as the 3ds is really not worth it. Its battery life is a joke, the 3d isnt impressive and right now theres very few good games that you need a 3ds to get.
bottom line id go trade that sucker in and get a regular ds and a few games with the store credit.
as for games youll be wanting; advanced wars, chrono trigger, pokemon soul silver(basicly silver version so old school yay:),mariokart 7,and super mario 64. hope this helps.

Got the Zelda 3DS for last christmas and I've been lovin' it. Sadly it doesn't play my GBA games, but I have the old GBA SP or original DS for that. Here are some of the games I have for the 3DS that I liked:

Advance Wars: Dual Strike - Turn-based strategy game. Sorta reminded me of Warhammer 40K, the tabletop game, which I enjoy. Story might not be stellar for older folks, but I enjoyed it as a Kid and the gameplay is certainly top notch.

Lunar: Dragon Song - JRPG. I remember enjoying it, but I don't actually remember anything about it other than beating it and enjoying it :/ fortunately it was only 5$ when I was last at my local game shop, so it wont set you back any! Maybe I'll play it through again before the summer is over.

Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrows - Side scroller Action/RPG. I really enjoyed this one. Its a lot of fun, and there are tons of ways to customize your character. I really enjoyed the combat, too.

Golden Sun: Dark Dawn - JRPG. I really enjoyed the two GBA titles in this series, and while I haven't had a chance to play this one, game play looks to be the same, so it should be quite a lot of fun! Can't say anything on the story though :/

Pokemon Heartgold - JRPG. As an old fella, I really enjoyed the old pokemon games as a kid, so this one was right up my alley. Tons of nostalgia mixed with fun gameplay makes for a fun experience. Not the most awesome story, but I don't think you play pokemon games for the story!

Tales of the Abyss - Action JRPG. I really loved Tales of Symphonia for the Gamecube, and this is very similar. While I would prefer to play a ToS remake on the 3DS, This one is also a lot of fun to play!

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time - Action RPG. A great game. I played it all the time as a kid, and getting to play it again after all these years was awesome. Even if you haven't played it before, should still be a very fun game to play. I also heard a while back that they were looking at bringing Majora's Mask, it's sequel, to the 3DS, so I'm very excited about that!

Dr. Mario - Puzzlegame. You can get this off of the e Store for 5$ or so, and its alot of fun. Sorta like Tetris. Not as good as the version on the N64, but still a good game if you've got time to kill, and it doesn't take up your cartridge slot!

If you want, shoot me a PM and I'll be happy to give you a rundown of any of the above!

You needs 3ds for mario kart 7! And there are quit a lot of good games on the 3ds. Resident evil revelations is the best resident evil game since 4, mario 3d land is a brilliant mario game, kid Icarus uprising is awesome, ocarina of time is the best version of one of the best games of all time, Rahman origins is on there and is not watered down from te console version at all. I can guarantee
You pokemon games will be out for it. Terra going to e a professor Layton and phoenix wright crossoer game. Lucid mansion 2! New super mario bros 2, a new paper mario game that jeeps to turnips style an much mch more.

B - The only DS games you can't play on the 3DS are imported ones so you should be good with any older DS games you may have missed.
I can play my imported ds games on my 3ds without any problem. I have an european 3ds and it plays japanese ds games and american ds games.

Only the 3ds games are region bound not the ds games

Zelda: Link's Awakening (Virtual Console)
They have it on the online store?

Must. Get it. As soon. As. Possible.

I think it's about 5 dollars, or 3 poundals. It's the DX version too, so it's in colour. Get it, it is awesome. Now, when will the oracle games come out! The people who got the device before the price drop got minish cap, so the only missing ones are the oracle games. Shame, since they're the only ones I never got round to playing.

I won't deny that 3D is a gimick, but the 3DS is a brand new piece of hardware that is several times more powerful on the technical side.

Yeah, I get annoyed by the people saying that the 3ds is simply a ds with 3G slapped on. It's a bigger leap in terms of graphics and control changes than the gameboy advance. Look at games like resident evil revelation and kingdom hearts 3d, they're basically wii quality whereas the ds was lower gamecube at best. It's also got the circle pad, gyro controls and the circle pad pro which are entirely new additions to a nintendo console.

Fire Emblem Shadow Dragon is a good game that is somewhat like FFTA. Advanced Wars is good also and the two of them are good enough to keep your 3DS.

Zelda: Link´s Awakening is actually the first Zelda game I have played. Man, I really need that nostalgia kick. The soundtrack is like a child´s lullaby or something...

As for the Oracle games I have played both and transferred both into the other. They are nice games, but I wouldn't rank them much higher. I would say Ages is the best one of the two.
