Hi everyone, Unstoppable Wall here, odds are most of you don't recognize my username at all, which is fine. I never was a very prolific poster, but I digress. I've been gone long time, and figured I'd come back and lurk around the Escapist some more. So, how is everything around here these days?

Same old, same old. This forum hasn't really changed much at all since when I first signed up. Granted, it wasn't THAT long ago, but still.

Basically, nothing out of the ordinary.

This, for the last 4 1/2 years at least, I can vouch for.

Although I'd say there's less drama these days. More sexism threads though.

Well right now there seen to be a dicussion on people being banned and thinking wheather the mods are too strict or not. Also previous there had been many arguement over controversial topics (like the women vs trope and that woman getting fired for calling out on two developer for being sexist on Twitters) which now people demanding that everyone just chill out.
As usualy there are still the whole "Is Demon Soul is too hard or not" and a hint of Mass Effect 3 ending and a few more repeatitive threads.

There's been a great turnover in well known members since you left at the beginning of 2011, most of the celebrities of the old days are long banned or inactive but a new class of regulars have emerged over the last year or so. PRIATE is largely gone too and it's niche replaced by the Brovengers and Injustice League user-groups.

Also, the forum rules and moderation system had an overhaul in May 2011 so you'll want to bring yourself up to date on those. There's now a forum healthbar which shows how many infractions you've made (minus a six month amensty) and how many you can afford to make before you get banhammered into oblivion.

Otherwise I'd imagine a few bigger names are banned now and there's a lot of sexism threads about.

Wait, Zeel came back and immediately got banned? When did this happen? The guy was clearly heading for a ban when was kicked out the first time, he just couldn't keep a cool enough head to argue his points civilly, but his actual ban was bullcrap. Instead of just waiting for the inevitable, someone went and posed as him on the Giant Bomb forums, and basically asked them to do a 4chan style raid. Then they reported it to the mods here, who banned him for it. Seeing him get a chance to come back and immediately blowing it would be kind of heartwarming, in a weird way.

Yeah, that definitely happened. The post on Giant Bomb was ridiculous -- brand new user, name not even spelled the same way, and then there's a list of reasons on Zeel's blog where he says it wasn't him and then points out a list of reasons why it couldn't be. Most of them boiled down to "well yeah, I'm angry and abrasive, but I'm not /stupid/."

And anyway, that post you linked is pretty much exactly why the whole thing was not only scummy beyond belief, but stupid. He was on his last chance already, and he just didn't have the self control to last much longer. The whole frame up job shortened his stay by about two weeks at the most.

The number of shows on this site has seemingly doubled. Mass Effect 3's ending created a titanic shitstorm, which was in no way helped by the above mentioned user. Then feminism/gun violence exploded into 2 gigantic controversies that nobody could put down. Lately the biggest thing that's been happening is everyone's started rallying against EA in droves after Colonial Marines and SimCity. I can't think of much else to say.

Then there were the great forum floods of thread saturation. First came the ponies, then the Mass Effect 3 ending, then the drowning threads (which were oddly enough the most light-hearted out of the three) these situations gave us such memorable posters as Zeel and Eternal Nothingness.

And currently we are sitting in the middle of a gender war apocalypse.
