I don't mind punishing game difficulty as long as it's optional. Don't force it for the hell of it or we'll be seeing more broken controllers, consoles, and TV screens in the dump.

For it. Games these days are pathetically easy, you don't get your money's worth. I was actually a better gameplayer back in the NES/SNES days because the games were more difficult

Nobody really wants that kind of difficulty back. What people want to see more of is depth.
I always had a problem with that episode/argument because depth and difficulty aren't mutually-exclusive concepts.
You can have a difficult, but deep game.
That's true, but I notice I said "that kind" of difficulty. You know, the kind of game where the difficulty comes from cheap deaths and confusing mazes. You know, the kind that sucks.

Although I do think games sould be both harder and deeper (hehe) because the high difficulty will force you to explore the game's multiple layers and intricacies.

It's called Bayonetta.
Fuck, that game is hard.
Really? I didn't find it that hard. Now trying to get a Platinum overall on chapter 14. THAT's hard.
Maybe I'm just bad at it. Thought I guess that me finishing it shows that it's not as hard as some of the old games.

This is not a nostalgia thread !

Remember Nintendo hard ?
Wat.

Anyway, no. I know I risk throwing myself to the nostalgiacs with this one, but "Nintendo Hard" was a product of an era where games had very little cultural worth and bottom-end complexity, and they needed other ways to make a game worth playing or worth buying.

Being difficult does NOT make a game good. Letting a player chose if his or her game will be hard is fine. Making a game challening in different ways is fine. "Nintendo Hard" is not fine. I'd be against it.

Whilst I do enjoy a challenge in a video game, cause when you accomplish it, its a wonderful feelinh, I wouldn't like to see Nintendo Hard come back. And in relation to multiplayer, why do people persist in playing the exact same game over and over again?

It makes no sense to me. I generally play only two types of multiplayer, Co-Op and Horde Modes. Thats it, cause all of the other modes suck. I miss when games where actually good multiplayers, like Timesplitters, rather than the bland, unimaginative modes of today.
