Why the fuck would you even to go a Tumblr convention. It's just gonna be shitty Super-Who-Lock fans in their circlejerks who will look down at you for not knowing what the hell they are talking about.
I find it a bit hypocritical that you criticize them for looking down on them when you're clearly looking down on them. Can we please not indulge in sterotypes.

And why would you go to a Tumblr convention? Why would you go to an Escapist convention?
Because the Escapist isn't run by thirteen year olds to twenty somethings who have no experience managing an event?
This is the thing that kind of irritates me. Was that convention run by people who had no idea what they were doing? Yes. But there's a lot more to Tumblr than that and a lot of people only see the vocal minority. Just like there's more to Youtube than people who swear in comments.
Yes I am aware of that but the majority of the stuff at Daschon was related to the core fandoms. Hell they even had a Superwholock hunt or something. If the actually organized it PROPERLY and branched out to do anime, gamees and stuff it'd be much better!
Is it really the fault of Tumblr though? I mean if a bunch of people from Youtube did a convention and it bombed, you wouldn't throw a blanket over everyone who used youtube.
No, but not everyone would know that it was not officially a Youtube con, and to the general public they'd just look a giant failure
Hm. So this was officially created by the people who run Tumblr? I must admit I haven't heard of that.
It was an unofficial con. What I'm saying is to someone who doesn't look this into detail and just sees the news, they'd probably think it was a Tumblr- run event.
But they'd be misinformed and be forming their opinions on Tumblr on misinformation then wouldn't they?
I just recent used tumblr for like a month to host a Pokemon Y screen shot lets play. It's as bad as people say.

I'm not gonna deny that there are indeed assholes on Tumblr, but is that really all there is to them? I mean I've seen people on this website who will unironically defend 4chan, if there's more to those people than meets the eye, there certainly is to Tumblr.

4chan has a bunch of funny pictures at least. Tumblr isn't as bad as people say, but it certainly isn't the sprawling hub of creativity it probably first set out to be. Pretty much everything I see on there is either a reblog of some random 2-sentence "joke", a random internet picture, or a reblog of a giant pyramid-reply post. This is from me clicking "follow" on the random people that stumbled onto my tumblr. And just by following like 20 people, I could leave a firefox tab on tumblr and get like 10 posts on the tumblr feed in like 5 minutes. All junk.

Mind you, mine had only screen shots and text of me playing through pokemon y. No reblogs or random 2-second posts. Despite this, I still managed to attract what could be described as a "SJW" as a follower. I think it was a blog for rape survivors or something. Not that pokemon is limited to a certain demographic, but I was actually a bit surprised.

As a corollary?
Any sufficiently advanced malice is indistinguishable from incompetence
There's no wit in it if you just point out that competent assholes can make it look like an accident. :p

It's neither clever nor humorous: 2/10
