Is there a higher resolution version of that? It's too pixelated to see zoomed in.Sack of Cheese said:Oooh, I have this thing you will find interesting, it has most of the good manga and anime sorted by genre!

Whilst it isn't sci-fi, I do highly recommend getting into One Piece. It is a long running shounen anime but it does have a very deep and layered storyline full of twists and turns, as well as fantastic characters and designs, even for very minor arc villains and such. It's packed full of action and humour and is quite masterfuly written too, you know something is good when it can reduce grown men to tears.Zanderinfal said:Hey Escapists!
I have been shrugging off getting into anime for a while now, but with nothing left to do I decided now would be a good time to get invested into some. I have ordered a box set of Ghost In The Shell: Stand Alone Complex and it's on it's way as we (metaphorically) speak. Give me some good recommendations for some action-y (preferably sci-fi) animes I can watch and give reasons why if possible. All posts are appreciated (besides flamebait, obviously.)
Thanks.
I second Psycho-Pass as one of Gen Unobuchi's best works. It has a cast of interesting characters, the crimes are gory and thought provoking and it has Takahiro Sakurai (Suzaku Kururugi) voicing one of the best villains everNicholas Mendoza said:If you want a good sci-fi anime then you should watch Psycho-Pass. It's about detectives solving crimes in a future Japan whose laws are governed by a robotic system, and later on tackles the problems of having that system decide almost all your choices in life. Below is a better summary of the anime if you're interested.
Summary:
In the near future, it is possible to instantaneously measure a person's mental state, personality, and the probability that a person will commit crimes with technology called the Dominator. Just thinking about a crime can make you guilty, and in this world there is no mercy for criminals. Detectives work in pairs--one Enforcer and one Inspector--with Enforcers delivering lethal justice, and Inspectors making sure their partners don't take things too far. The story follows Enforcer Shinya Kogami, who must solve and manage crimes in this dark future.
A word about Sword Art online, It has a light novel series around it that continues after the anime. (read after chapter 4 but the anime leaves some details out so I highly recommend reading the whole thing) http://www.baka-tsuki.org/project/index.php?title=Sword_Art_OnlineZanderinfal said:Thanks, liking the sound of Neon Genisis for sureKeoul said:Actiony sci-fi eh?
Neon Genisis Evangelion and Code Geass.
Boy are you gunna have fun with the first one!
I remember seeing bits and pieces of Cowboy Bebop vaguely and I recall liking it. As for Sword Art online and Accel World, they sound pretty damn cool honestly. I'll defiantly check them both out at some stage.VanQ said:I guess A Certain Magical Index is a good sci-fi action show worth watching if you're just getting into the medium.
Not very Sci-fi but plenty of action there is Fate/Zero.
If you like jazz there's Cowboy Bebop, because someone will say it eventually, but it's nowhere near as good as most people would make it out to be. Trigun is slightly better in the same regard and also worth a watch.
Sword Art Online and Accel World are shows I recommend here often since they're set in video games of the not so distant and distant future. Regardless of people bitching about them because of wasted potential, they are both actually better than people would make you believe.
Thanks!Sack of Cheese said:Sheep! Wrong link!!
