So I'm in the market for a new console

Since my 360 recently decided that after three years of loyal service it would decide to brick itself a month outside of warranty, I'm looking at buying a new console once I have some cash. I am currently leaning towards a Playstation 3 mainly because from what I've heard its pretty good value for the money you spend. That and the Xbox 360 doesn't have remastered Sly the Raccoon games. But anyway...

Without the intention to cause flame wars, can Playstation 3 owners list the pros and cons and any exceptional games they feel the console has. And yes. I'm well aware of the PSN fiasco. You don't need to list it.

Pros: exclusives, free internet access and you can buy PSN cards if you don't wish to use bank one.
Cons: well, probably since you don't pay for web access, you don't get maintainance of highest level. I hadn't had any problems with netplay, though.

A more varied library. Not every game needs to be a shooter and if you have the TV tech, bluray looks fantastic.

Add more reliable system and that's what I was going to say.
Personally I recommend Uncharted and Little Big Planet 2, as first games.

I think longevity is a big factor. The PS3 is only just coming into full swing. But to give some simple Pros and Cons from my experiences:

PROS:
- Excellent media facilities (both streaming and HDD)
- PS+ is a zillion times better than XBL
- Excellent library of exclusives (Heavy Rain, Uncharted, God Of War, inFamous etc)
- Free Online play
- PsONE classics (a free one every month with PS+)
- My friends own XBOXs and they constantly get "controller disconnected errors". With PS3 I've had that happen ZERO times.
- Web browser
- PS Home is a nice little social gaming feature, although it isn't forced upon you like XBOX avatars or the Wii Miis.


CONS:
the only con I've experienced is that I'm the only one of my friends that owns an PS3, meaning I can't play online with them. The reason being the XBOX came out first and was cheaper, nowadays that isn't the case.

Hard to arrange games with friends
PS Home (Yes it's a con too)
Usually gets DLC after Xbox

And that's about it for the cons I think,oh wait!

It has Free Realms. (If you don't know what it is,keep it that way)

Pros:
-Blue Ray
-Some exclusives (can't wait for the Ico, Shadow of the Colossus remake)
-Best Netflix of any console

Cons:
-online multiplayer isn't great
-not "user friendly'
-CONSTANT updates that take forever to download
-Game updates take forever to download (seriously, it's a laborious chore to be able to play a game)
-is always dusty (lack of use)

Blue Ray
Excellent exclusives: God Of War series, inFamous 1 & 2, Heavy Rain, Uncharted series, Little Big Planet 1 & 2, and others.

Cons:
A few games and DLC tend to be released on Xbox marketplace before the Playstation store.
Missing out on a few good Xbox exclusives: Halo series, Alan Wake, and the console version of the Witcher 2.

Playstation 3 is generally a good console. My main con would be that I personally don't really like the PS3 software, some of it is quirky and annoying, like no custom soundtracks on games, no background downloads of patches (and this is annoying, some PS3 patches are INSANE sizes). but the pros far outweigh its cons.

Still prefer my Xbox though.
