Watch Toradora for School Drama, with some bits of fun.
Watch Haruhi for Kyons Monologues
Watch Madoka for Suprising take on the Magical Girl Series.
Watch Seto no Hayanome for hilarity.
Watch Gurren Lagan for mecha Homage/Rip off
Watch Heroic Age for a Short Space Opera.
Watch Legend of the Galactic Heroes for a LONG space opera.
Watch Ideon so you know why they call Tomino, Kill em All Tomino.
Watch Shin Mazinger Z for New Kickass Nagai mecha Goodness.
Watch Dororon Enma Kun for all around Nagai awesomeness.
Watch Infinite Stratos for a Harem with Mechs.
Hope that Helps, I have more but then I would be listing too much.
Ouran Highschool Host-club is a fucking hilarious reverse harem (one chick, many guys) about a school-based "host club" (dudes talking with chicks for money).
Setokai no Ichizon is a harem where the male lead is actually a fucking perv who is explicitly trying to start a harem. Also satires many popular animes.
Working! is a great romantic/situation comedy. Another good comedy is Level E. It may be jarring as there isn't exactly a set protagonist. We meet a baseball player in the first episode who sticks around until the third episode but doesn't come back until the third to last episode (of 13 total). It's also weird in other ways; the fourth episode is a self-contained horror story. Then you consider the color rangers who have four episodes. (Trust me, the color ranger episodes aren't as silly as they sound.) I highly recommend Level E, just be ready for the really weird format. Also note that both these shows are subbed only. They can be watched over Crunchyroll.
Man, people recommending Code Geass and Samurai Champloo to a guy who just said he enjoyed Clannad. You guys might as well just throw up your MyAnimeLists and not even care about what he wants. Here's mine.

There.
Oh, you wanted a specific recommendation?
There's Angel Beats. Jun Maeda(Guy who made clannad all sad and heartwarming and shit)'s other anime. Not as good as Clannad, but in my opinion, little else is.
If you diggin heartwarming family type stuff in general, there's Usagi Drop (Also known as Bunny Drop). 30 year old man adopts his grandfather's illegitimate 5 year old daughter. He learns to become a parent. HEART MOTHERFUCKIN WARMED.
Well if you don't mind a somewhat butchered dub, Sgt. Frog is worth watching. I have heard many good things about Squid Girl as well (I haven't watched it yet), so you could give that one a shot since it will be released on Blu-ray soon.
Well, since someone else already linked to their list.

In particular, I recommend Hidamari Sketch. It's very funny, and don't tell me you can't deal with moe since you watched Clannad. Start with 365, the second season because it takes place before (and is better than) the first season.
I don't know what audio you prefer, but it only comes with subtitles.
If you want comedy then I recommend Axis Powers Hetalia. It's a series of short 5 minutes episodes that parody the relationships between the main countries involved in world war one and two as well as their development. Each country is represented by a stereotype character, America is loud and obnoxious, Germany is strict, Greece is lazy and so forth. The jokes are funny, the history is accurate, it's cute, it's clever and I certainly recommend you watch the english dub because the voice acting is great, they pull off the accents brilliantly and it makes it even more funnier.
Trigun: Humorous, great action scenes, and the second best final battle I have ever seen.
Gurren Lagann: Wonderful mecha anime, can be a bit random at times, hilariously over the top. Best final battle EVER.
Tower of Druaga: A bit of humor, a bit of RPG satire, and some great characters. The first episode does not represent the tone of the rest of the show at all.
Dragonball: Its Dragonball. A clueless child martial artist goes around saving the world from random threats, training with eccentric and odd mentors, and fighting in tournaments.
Squid Girl: Meant for children but it makes me (a 20 year old male with only a passing interest in anime) laugh out loud and dawww. It has a great sense of humor, supports recycling and the green movement without rubbing it in your face. Beware the opening song, Its rather annoying. I almost ground my teeth into a fine powder the first time I heard it.
I recently watched Clannad and rather enjoyed it. I found it to be funny yet dramatic. As I did get really sad when
Nagisa died, as well as his daughter, really pulled at my heartstrings. At least it did have a happy ending when he went back in time and his family survived then they lived happily ever after.
I also enjoy more or less funny anime, but I don't mind drama as long as it has a humorous side to it. Just like Clannad did.
Congratulations, you just made it easier for me since you have just taken my top two anime.
Don't worry I have more!
High School Of the Dead - Horror and ecchi. (But I barely noticed the ecchi since I was too immersed into the story, but I would watch and episode and decide what you want)
Gundam Seed and Gundam Seed Destiny - For Mecha combat. (I liked it since I was a child)
Darker then Black - for an immersive world and action.
Baccano - Action, comedy and horror bundled into one awesome anime. (Highly recommended)
Samurai Champloo - Action and a bit of comedy with great characters.
Kanon (206 version) - From the makers of Clannad, you know what to expect.
Air - A classic from the makers of Clannad.
Sola - A drama but with a more supernatural taste.
Eden of The East - A damn good plot, characters and well, good in general. (But it have movies...quite a load of them too)
Lovely complex - A romance comedy. (I loved it, had good characters, story and romance scenes)
Thats all I have thought off that you might like.
Also other guys, we should love doing this, recommending our anime to others to help our fellow brethren.
Another opportunity to plug Yu Yu Hakusho, it has great action, some heart rending moments, pure win music, a cast full of likeable characters, classic 90's animation, and my favorite part, NO FILLER, seriously, they get through 5 story arcs in the first season!
Also the series is online for free, and was relatively short (4 seasons, all very good IMO) here's the website:
http://www.watch-yuyuhakusho.com/
A brief explanation of the story is right there when you click the above page too
Edit: It is heavy action though, don't know if that's your "cup of tea"
