If you haven't seen Paranoia Agent, WATCH IT. It gets a little unruly at the end, but otherwise it's fantastic.
I would, but I can't find any english dubs that are not P2W

If you liked clanaad ( like i did) i recomend Toradora! It's halarious!

Another one i would recomend that i watched recently is angel beats! It's funny and sad at time i got teary eyed by laughing and sadness.
I watched a random episode of angel beats with some friends watching it a few days ago, and I had no idea what the hell was going on... so i gotta ask.. is this seriously a school-life genre anime about angels in highschool playing music? o_O (thats all i could get from everything i saw and everything i got out of the other people in the room)
It's one of those things that don't make sense till the end.
They slowly find out they are in purgatory and are stuck there until they can forgive the world/god for giving them a shitty life, so they try to fight/find god. The reason it is a school yard as the setting is because most of the people who arrive there are usually in the teenage years (spare some exceptions) but the world is also able to be built in different ways if they known what they are building. The whole serious is really a funny f***ed up story.

I recently watched Clanad and rather enjoyed it. I found it to be funny yet dramatic. As I did get really sad when
Nagisa died, as well as his daughter, really pulled at my heartstrings. At least it did have a happy ending when he went back in time and his family survived then they lived happily ever after.

I also enjoy more or less funny animes, but I don't mind drama as long as it has a humorous side to it. Just like Clanad did.

I also like things like FLCL and Abanoboshi Magical Shopping Arcade. So if some people could recommend some stuff to me it would be awesome
I'm just going to do to you what I do to everyone else...

Tell you my favourite animes of all time, which are:

Kino no Tabi/Kino's Journey
aaand...
Gunslinger Girl.

I like quite a lot though, if you think you'd be interested perhaps you've heard of Lucky Star? High school anime, random and just relaxing and nice to watch.
If you're looking for something slightly similiar but a thousand times more random and hilarious, then Nichijou is for you. I haven't been following this one that closely, because it was ongoing when I started watching it and I haven't been keeping up.

But here's a clip from it(that I've linked before):

Nichijou

A batshit-insane funny show. It's the first anime series I liked in a long time.

Don't watch a random episode , watch the first one . And no it's has nothing to do with angels in highschool playing music . It's about people that died and are in purgatory fighting against an angel to defy god.

Watch Interlude. It's pretty much anime equivalent of "Donnie Darko" or "Lost Highway". I mean : most people don't get it right. ;)
Though there are some good known elements, as a whole it is highly unorthodox. There is your typical protagonist and a few chicks with him, but later on - everything becomes twisted.

BTW : I'd kill for its soundtrack. :|

Aha, here it is :

This is a general response. I've got a few good ideas from you guys, I've seen

YYH - Saw it on toonami and watched the rest online when I was younger
Angel beats
HSOTD
Eden of the East
Samurai Champloo

[...]
I'm really into a lot of stuff, but I like stuff that will either A. Make me feel good, OR make me feel REALLY sad, then kinda bring my hope back when everything works out, I honestly cried during Clanad. But in the end it was a happy ending so. It made up for it. Or B. Something weird AND Funny.

Or a mix of both. I mean action and funny too, generally funny stuff is good.
A word of warning about Highschool of the Dead, it is loaded with fan service. As a fan of Queen's Blade and Sekirei, HOTD was a bit too much for me initially. It is possible you might find some of the "service" funny, though.

To respond to the OT:

Well I did enjoy a show called Mahoromatic, which is both funny and sad, especially the second to the last episode. You might like Bamboo Blade as well.

A few Comedy Recommendations: Sayonara Zetsubo Sensei, social commentary wrapped up in a ball of weird. It plays with social issues and societal ills by taking them to there logical extreme. Also it loves puns and homophones. Most of the characters are stereotypes meant to lampoon something. The only problem is sometimes the jokes fall flat or go on too long but when they hit it right it is damned hilarious.

Hidamari Sketch:4 girls spend there time in art school with nutbladder busting levels of cute and thats about it. Honestly I have a hard time describing while it's funny, it just kind of is. My only real problem is the pacing is atrocious up until season 3 where it gets some what better.

Bamboo Blade: While I normally don't like sports anime this one is pretty enjoyable. It has decent Characters that are nicely developed and a good sense of humor. It doesn't take it self seriously and even when it tries to it never becomes over dramatic or angsty. It just a fun series to watch.

The World God Only Knows: If you have any affinity for Otaku culture or dating sims, then this is a must watch. It's about a guy(Keima) using his knowledge of Dating sims to capture evil souls hiding in a girls heart or he loses his head. It's funny as hell thanks in part to Keima's habit of applying dating sim tropes to the real world(which works better than expected) and his partner, the demon Elsie's nativity.

On the more Dramatic side:

Princess Tutu, A magic girl deconstruction with some humorous elements.Defiantly one of the darker ones playing with traditional fairy tale and magical girl tropes.

Usagi Drop: A man adopts his grandpa's illegitimate love child and they build a life together. What follows is pure pant shitting adorableness wrapped up in a world of great characters and a simple story.

Haibane Renmei: This is a very atmospheric kind of show. By letting you see it through the eyes of one of it's new born inhabitants,it draws you in while saying very little. All the characters are wonderful and special mention to Reki for having an excellent character arc. Also it's rife with symbolisms and very open to interpretation if you like that sort of thing

Maybe the show is not as big as I thought it was (I did randomly stumble into it) but "Soul Eater" very quickly became my favorite anime. It's got great funny moments as well as an epic story (it's over four seasons but they're all completely connected, it might as well have been one super season).

Best part, it's on Netflix so if you've got it, you're good to go!

Baccano - just adding to the chorus
Eden of the East - again adding to the chorus. Very unique.
Stein's Gate - looks good so far but some of the characters are starting to get on my nerves.
Black Lagoon - I will sum this up with the following video

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DKwaPSkjXp0

PlanetES - actually believable space travel - worth watching to the end.
12 Kingdoms - epic.
Death Note - If you are a fan of Machiavellian politics.
Excel Saga - main character gets hit by a truck several times within the first two minutes: that kind of comedy.
Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex
Escaflowne - really? no one mentioned this one yet?

Or if you are feeling high on life and want to take yourself down a notch and feel depressed for a week, watch Jin Roh: the Wolf Brigade, or Grave of the Fireflies.
