Everything you would ever need to know! [http://user.tninet.se/~jyg699a/fallout.html]

I used that guide (and the one he made for F2) as guideline and sometimes walkthrough help, but he has everything you would ever need to know. Now enjoy one of the best RPG games ever!
Thanks man, that's a hell of a guide! I'm trying to avoid using the walkthrough part, it's really handy for making sure a didn't make a gimped character though!

It only occured to me after being raped by radscorpions for 20 minutes that moving around is part of combat tactics when you have low AP...

Make sure that you know all of the game's controls before you play it, I've heard people complain that "the whole game is turn-based" without realising you're supposed to end combat..
I laughed at that one... that is pretty damn stupid!

I have had one or two occasions where the combat mode wouldn't let me switch it off until I left a certain area though.

Oh, and this game is awesome.

First of all, don't have any skills under 5, otherwise it can make parts of the game IMPOSSIBLE. Second:

I got it from GOG.com for like $5.99 and they had the 2nd one and tactics for the same price... (Good Game)
:~)

EDIT: I'm not 100% about the prices...

I preferred fallout 2. Make a character with less than 3 intelligence on fallout 2. Do it.
I think that if that happens, you talk like a dumb ass and people think that you need to wear a protecting helmet and drool less.
Had an Int 1 bruiser in Fallout 2 and trust me, it's helluva fun. However, it isn't recommended for the first playthrough, of course. Favourite laugh-out-loud moments includes...

Raider's Den: When approaching the safe, the description of the safe was "a black dog with a round nose". Safe blew up because my character obviously ignored the trap.

Some Vault Mainframe Computer: The character thinks there's a woman trapped inside the box. An option comes up to open the box (mainframe casing), followed by the option to reach in to save the lady. Result? Character takes a great deal of damage from electrocution!

Oh Man, I've got to get Fallout 2...
I think i'll get the Fallout Trilogy and then get it from GOG.com so it'll go onto my netbook...
I wonder if somewhere someone has it on a R4 cart for the DS (I sure hope so, so i can look up how to get it myself (maybe))

that DOESN'T include the infamous time you sing elton john's "rocketman" to a drug dealer because he was named the "rocketman" where after you finish, he stares at you in a wierd way and says "get out.", i almost fell off my chair laughing.
That's awesome... (and BTW no DS "port" (that i can find)) (If anyone cares) They don't

I never played a dumb character, but my dad told me that people laugh at you and the game takes a whole new form.

Dammit now I wanna get Fallout 2 as well... that sounds hilarious! I personally enjoyed when the Vault Dweller called Set the ghoul 'spaghetti face'

I was a bit surprised when I got the chip after 4 hours but then realised there are about 60 million other quests to do so that was a relief...

What difficulty should I choose? Is it ok on normal or is it very tough for a new player?

Any other general help or tips will be greatly appreciated!
I hade more fun tagging small weapons, and avoided energy weapons, as they kinda break the game. Make sure you hav lockpick though. It's handy. That and criticals helps alot, as the percentage of you hitting the enemy isn't great, so when you hit, you'll do alot.

I was really wishing for some energy weapons today as I used up 30 stimpaks fighting the deathclaw mommy... that ***** was tough!

Then again it probably wasn't the best idea to tackle her at level 9...

Why'd you kill her? now you can't keep training your levels on her babies! And level 9... yes, that was rather stupid.

Fallout 1.... Wow... it's almost a decade since I last played that.

But Small Guns is still important in that game. In fact I think it's the most important.

Well you see, I've never played a turn based RPG before and there is no such thing as grinding in Fallout 3 so I wasn't sure what to expect.

Now I'm level 12 and I have muties kicking my ass!

Yeah I'm glad I tagged it. Speech too. Both very handy.
