So, is that CG star wars series actually any good?

Ok, now i'm pretty sure my stance on the CG series of star wars has more or less been stated before. But, as of recently, i've heard that apparently the latest seasons of the new 'Clone Wars' series are apparently....good?
Which has lead me to ask the question: Is this series actually any good?

Before you say anything, i did indeed watch the CG movie (Which, as most of the star wars fandom agree's we must never speak of again) and thought it was total Shite. I have seen some episodes of the first series and my opinion on it is.....eh, mixed bag at best and glaringly bad at worst.

I dislike the overall 'kiddie' tone i found the show to be taking in some areas, and i also disliked the addition of Ahsoka primarily because she represented a rather glaring continuity issue: Part of Anakins descent into the Dark-side did come from his feeling that he wasn't moving up in the Jedi and the councils inability to recognize his capability. The fact they lump him with an apprentice (Even if there is a legitimate reason for it) more or less undermines this theme in his eventual descent.
Most frustrating of all was the handling and portrayal of General Grievous: In the original clone wars series he was a near unstoppable Jedi hunter who was able to take on some of the Councils top Jedi without actually having any force powers. The third films more crippled portrayal made some sense due to a serious injury he obtained from an encounter with Mace Windu so i was able to accept it. But, from what i've seen in the new series he couldn't even fight a head-cold let alone some of the councils top Jedi. And that i found most frustrating: I understand that having him be an unstoppable machine of death would be a bit difficult to pull off in a series going this long but...you expect me to believe that THIS was the cyborg that managed to kidnap the Chancellor right under the councils nose and critically injure some of their top warriors? The voice actor i have no problem with though.

However, there were a few things i liked in the series: For one, the deeper examination into the psyche of the Clones and basically some of the struggles they have in being actual people. I found myself enjoying the Clone focused episodes of the series quite a bit. Some of the animation is ok as well and most of the Voice Actors are at-least appropriate.

So, again i need to ask: Is this series actually good? And, if so, WHEN does it start getting consecutively good?

Captcha: pandora's box. I get a strange feeling i might have just opened one...

I haven't watched much of the series, but from what I can tell, it was hit or miss right from the start, and seems to have gotten better over time. Even some of the really early episodes were pretty good, especially when it was an episode about the clones instead of the Jedi. Rookies comes to mind, it was like the second or third story in the series[footnote]The show is serialized in a way similar to the old Dr. Who. Some stories are three or four episodes long, others one or two.[/footnote].

Also, there is one thing about the show that I definitely like: it actually shows Anakin Skywalker as a hero and a good friend of Obi Wan. Obi Wan said he was like that in A New Hope, but from what we saw in the movies, he was a whiny asshole and they never got along. Star Wars: The Clone Wars remedies that.

Not really as two of the main problems with the show are the pacing and when it suppose to take place.
Most of the time the conclusion of that episode is heavily rush which Family Guy often does and some epiosdes take places in the past or inbetween so it's hard to tell when it suppose to had taken place (one episode was right before the CGI, another was in the present and then another was before that present episode later on).
My other grind with the show that it's all pointless if you had seen Revenge of the Sith. I mean whatever they do are meaningless as it will never be mention in the film unless you're the type who look into other Star Wars media like the books or you view the series as a different continunity.
Granted one or two episodes were interesting (e.g. the first of the three episodes on Umbara) but overall I only watch it since I had nothing better to do.

I have seen all of the Clone Wars cartoon series (because that is in my mind what it is I will refer to it as such). It is good, but it is also hit and miss. Naturally anything involving JarJar Binks and is really... - I wont say bad, but tainted. And no lightsaber accidents occur to him, which is unfortunate. Some episodes are better than others. Anakin is as retarded as the 3rd prequel and Obi Wan and the remaining Jedi are as stuck up as always. I found the episodes I enjoyed most were the ones that focused on the clones themselves and fortunately there are quite a few. There are several additions to the main storyline cast and they carry over to some overall story arcs. You can tell the styles change and will quickly find which episodes you prefer from the writers. The tone can suddenly change from episode to episode (for example George Lucas's daughter writes several episodes - IMO hit and miss, good characters, superficial/bland/predictable plot - but that's her style for a 20 min show, understandable)

Overall I liked it, but you will see a lot you may not like too, and compared to many things coming out it is better than average. Looks good, solid storyline (for it's target age group) and there overall development in the characters and galaxy.

It gets better, there's more good then bad, and it's the best thing to come out of the prequel rubbish.

Haven't watched much of the newer one which I think your talking about but the other series which involved stuff like Mace Windu taking on an entire droid army in the desert and actully showed Grevious kidnapping the chancellor was pretty cool.

I quite like it...

It has a few pacing problems, means that the movies have to be retconned and continuity problems with the Gendy Tartatovsky series, but I quite enjoy it... JarJar [insert swearwords here] Binks aside.

Some of the cameos are amusing, but I like the humanising of the Clones to be the best part of it... though I'm still not sure whether the BattleDroids are endearing or plain dumb...

I thought it was a lot like Samurai Jack and therefore awesome.
Was talking about the new one done in CG rather then the original animated series done in a similar style to Samurai Jack (Also, incidentally, some of the team that worked on Samurai Jack also worked on that series too so that's probably why the similarities are there)

It's okay, I started watching it because I found some of the story arcs interesting.

Though I must say I still don't like General Grievous. He was so much better in the original mini series.

It's actually very good, yes. I liked the movie as well.

About Anakin and Ahsoka: It only hurts Anakin's characterization in the third movie if his reasoning to join the dark side in the third movie was any good at all. It wasn't. He just came off as a whiny brat.

About Grievous: He's just an exiled dude with 4 arms and robot legs. That doesn't immediately give him unsurpassed skill against jedi masters. They're masters for a reason.

When they don't speak an episode automatically gets better <.<
