Holy shit, it's the darkest game I've played recently. It's like the developers looked at Homefront (which I loved) sneered, and said "You think that's a knife? THIS, IS A KNIFE".

Or something. Anyway, I can't stress how good this game is enough.

I like GoW's story.

I also am planning on picking this up. Stories in games are hard to come by. Good stories (in that they are actually structured instead of levels thrown together) are extremely hard to come by.

Not so much like Homefront, but it's a shooter which isn't entirely constructed of 'MERICUH, FUCK YEAH! Which I admit Homefront had a bit of.

The main drawcard for me so far is the story. Combat controls are a bit arsed, but I can live with that.

Yahtzee suggesting I play it suprised me too. I've tried the demo though and really just didn't care much for it. Although any game that has 'elite american military soldiers' walking around a middle-eastern environment makes me pretty biased against it by default.

The whole modern military genre is filled with so much pro-war propaganda and blind patriotism that it becomes hard to see anything that might actually hold some real value.

I played it through and i have to agree, i was quite blown away, but one thing i have to say is...where is the controversy?!! People were up in arms when Medal of Honor came out both in the US and over here in the UK because you could kill American Soldiers in multiplayer or something, but then a game comes along like this and...nothing. Don't get me wrong, i loved the game and i am glad there is no outcry but it just strikes me as...well...odd

Be aware, it's short and the gameplay isn't very good. but if you're looking for something new with regard to story it's ok.

A game with deep themes and no outcry? Obviously no one told the XBROS about it.

And if you're expecting that controversy is either getting nuked or killing an airport full of civilians, you've really become desensitized.

I havent play Homefront, just watched glimpses of it, but i am sure that Homefront had an excuse for going with the attitude of "MERICUH, FUCK YEAH!" Because as far as i recall, it was about a Korean invasion of the USA so i am sure that the soldiers HAD to adopt that attitude just to convince themselves that they have the strength to win, to avoid being in despair.

I believe the controversy you're thinking of regarding Medal of Honour was the fact you could play as Taliban. Assuming you're referring to the new Medal of Honour. You kill Americans in Battlefield 3 and no shit was given.

I know as I'm Canadian. Luckily I have several American friends who bought it for me and gave me the Steam key.
