Its the "Metropolitan police" virus which basically imposes itself as the police force and says that Illegal activity was discovered on your PC, then it asks you to pay a fine of £100 for your lockdown to be lifted.

I'm on my laptop while I'm fixing my desktop pc.

I'm not asking for advice or anything I know what im going to do to get rid of the Fucking thing (I think). I'm asking if any of you guys ever had a nasty experience with a virus and how did you be rid of the foul thing?

You should stop watching those videos then.

I have had one nasty virus. It was a virus posing as anti virus software saying I needed to get rid of a virus I didn't have. Up until the virus of the anti virus.

I had a trojan that was pretending to be a java update. I ended up haveing to wipe my drive and restart using that disk that comes with the computer when you open the box. Yay external storage.

Last virus I got hit by? Was a fair while ago but I fixed it by loading Linux, backing up any non-OS data (documents, games, some of the installed programs), blowing away Windows then rebuilding with Linux.

Last virus I installed? Norton anti-virus damn thing comes with a root kit making it so difficult to completely get rid of it.

On the other hand last "proper" virus I got was a nasty key logger. Had to install Norton to get rid of it (see above) then AVG 2010 update came and solved the older key logger problem.

Whatever, just wash your hands.
A couple years ago I got one, none of the scans I did could detect it, I'm not even sure how I got it, the only evidence that I had one for awhile was avast constantly detecting things other weird things it kept trying to put on, over the course of trying to find out what the hell it was, one thing involved turning off my antivirus for a scan, when I turned it back on, instead of getting warnings every few min, I started getting them every 10 seconds so at that point I decided it was as good at time as any to reformat my comp and hope that my storage drive wasn't touched, fortunately my storage drive wasn't touched, and that is why I like having 2 hard drives.

Had one that kept giving me popups. So, I went into task manager, looked for everything that I didn't know, went to the folder they were in, and deleted the shit out of them. There were 3 executables, in 3 different folders, and I killed them all!!!

It was a clever one. One of the better hidden ones kept making copies of the others, so I managed to kill that one first, and after that, it was easy.

That felt good.

One time my mom came downstairs and started yelling at me for getting a virus on the computer which made it completely unusable. Most programs would freeze when they started, email was acting strange and she thought it was my fault. I went online and when I clicked on the search bar, suddenly a string of L's started scrolling...

Yeah, my little brother just got a piece of toast in the keyboard under the L-key.

But in all seriousness, I had a few computers get popup viruses like the one you're describing, but those were many years ago. There are so many anti-virus tools these days, I can't imagine getting one now.

Oh the blame you get for being the one who uses the computer the most eh? I get this all the time, usually from my nan.

"A virus is on my computer and its your fault!"
"Erm, nan, I don't use your computer, I use mine"
"Well somethings wrong with it and you use the internet all the time"
"Well lets have a look at it then, hey, what's *obscure name.exe*"
"I downloaded that so I could play scrabble online".

...
I hate people.

I may actually currently have a key-logger, since one of my accounts got hacked...but I haven't been able to find anything despite scanning my whole computer with AVG, Windows Defender and my Uni's anti virus programme and Spybot Search & Destroy. Here's to hoping it's not really a keylogger and my details were just obtained during the Steam hack :/

Oh god, I've had one of those. Stupid virus that stops pretty much any program from running, and repeatedly tells you you have a terrible virus that you can only get rid of if you buy a certain anti virus program. Held my damn computer to ransom.

If I remember correctly, it's not too hard to get rid of if you know what you're doing. Think I restarted in safe mode then performed a system reset from the start up screen. Or something like that.

I then got malwarebytes, which is a good program for stopping those, and I've never had a problem since. Prevention is better than cure, now I'm always careful what I click, and keep anti virus programs up to date, and run scans at least once a week.

AVG completely missed the virus that I got, so you may want to watch out with them. I don't trust them anymore.

discovered i had 26 small viruses that were making my computer slow and annoying they had all completely passed under the radar of Norton so i got Bullguard instead which discovered the viruses and got them for good
