So I've recently started getting into a new type of music...

Lately I've been finding myself listening more and more to bands like Skinny Puppy, Nitzer Ebb, Nine Inch Nails, Pain, and Unter Null.
This is all pretty new to me, and the market base for industrial-based music is relatively compared to other genres, so it's tough to discover new bands.
So I was wondering if the Escapist could suggest some dark industrial/electronic music which I may like.

Thanks in advanced y'all!

Tried the Smashing Pumpkins yet?

I wouldn't know if they qualify exactly, but it sure as hell sounds dark and industrial.

The Cruxshadows are about as far as I go into this kind of stuff, but my girlfriend enjoys The Birthday Massacre. Not sure if they are what you're looking for but see how you go.

The Shihad album ''Churn'' is very industrial. All their other albums range from pop rock to thrash metal but Churn is definitely industrial.

Laibach and KMFDM would probably be alright from a heavier industrial sort of standpoint. Ministry might be worth a look as well.

For a more electronic sort of deal: ohGr (Skinny Puppy vocalist's solo project) or Razed In Black (a personal favourite of mine).

Actually, have a video...

Good call on Nitzer Ebb, by the way.

Electronic huh? How about the greatest song in history? The only song I ever learned on keyboard.
Youtube quality hardly does it justice.

Thanks for all the replies guys. I've got a couple of bands down which I'll have to investigate further soon.

Haha, that's some spectacular timing... great minds think alike, an' all that.

Actually, another for the OP: Apoptygma Berzerk. Their newer stuff probably won't fit the bill so much, but their older stuff is well worth a go:

I never really got into Industrial except for NIN. But why don't you try Last FM and other sites to find underground bands. Since that's how I get my indie fix.

Hmm... Never thought about that. I'll try this fabled "Last FM" in my future travels.

Assemblage 23, Grendel, VNV Nation, Rotersand, Combichrist, Straftanz...

Edit: This thread helped me get into some really great stuff.

Godflesh pretty much pioneered that whole genre.

You like Godflesh and Electric Wizard?

FRIENDFRIENDFRIENDFRIENDFRIENDFRIEND

However, Streetcleaner was actually 1990, not 98.

Still great though!

"Bleed dry, mankind."
