Bioshock 1+2: Very good FPS games on their own merits. Plus the Plasmids do a great job of connecting you to Rapture.
Mass Effect 1+2: One word that sums it up: EPIC. If you love RPG's, you will adore this. Stunningly large universe, open ended story, and the most beautiful art design I have ever seen.
Fallout 3: Again. Love RPGs? You will adore this. If not, consider this a good stepping stone into RPG games.
Halo 1-Reach: The games that started it all. Get Reach first, and if you really REALLY liked it, get the other three and a half games. You can find a lot of them for dirt cheap these days. Especially ODST.
Assassin's Creed II: If you played the first one before, you know how god-awfully annoying it got. Well, ACII removes it, and excels beyond the predecessor in every way possible.
Modern Warfare 1. Kicks the shit out of Modern Warfare 2 any day.

Never played Arkham Asylum, I don't intend to either.
Gears Of War 2 is ok.
I don't like Modern Warfare, I played for a bit and I just don't like the gameplay.
I never played Dante's Inferno.

I'd reccomend Bioshock 2 and L4D 2, both for their online play.
Didn't you leave the site?

OT: Get Mass Effect 1. Play it and finish it. Then play Mass Effect 2 with an imported character. It'll blow your mind.

Why the hell does everyone emphasise the x before the box? It's one word and it's not XBox either.

Buy GTA San Andreas off "Games On Demand"

If you want to see the most mind bogglingly fun game money can buy, get your hands on Earth Defense Force 2017
As well as being able to level every building in the game, this is a fairly common sight:

Yes, Bioshock 2 has great mulitplayer.

If your looking for a new game, reach is just around the corner, try that one out.

i recently bought myself an x box, and 3-4 games. i have had a lot of fun with arkham asylum, gears of war 2 and modern warfare. i also bought Dante's inferno, but found it quite boring.

so what I'm asking you is: what did you think of these games, and are there any other games you think i absolutely have to get?
Fun games I have found in my wanderings:

Mass Effect 1 & 2
Fallout 3
Saints Row 2
Dragon Age: Origins
Prototype
Bioshock 1 & 2
Fable 2
Dead Space
Gears of War series
Halo series

I've played a plethora of others, but their names escape me for the moment. Just waking up and coffee has not taken full effect yet.

Mass Effect 1 + 2

Fable II if such games suit your desire. There is alway Halo Reach in a few days.
I must agree with him.

If you get an Xbox, your going to want it for fable and mass effect.

But make sure you get Mass Effect 1. #2 is fun and everything, but you have to go through 1 fo understand half of the lingo or important moments.

I forget what's even exclusive to the 360 anymore outside of the Mass Effect games. At least currently.

There's some super bland to pretty great games mentioned in this thread already though.

First, it's Xbox.

(sorry ^^)

And second, mabye you would think about buying Halo: Reach, if you like those games.

May i also recommend Crackdown 2 (nevermind the first one, just buy the second), Left 4 Dead 2 and Dead Rising (although the sequel is coming up and you might want to buy that instead!)

Arkham Asylum was awesome, but wayyyy too short for 60 bucks. Beat it in one night, with all the Riddler stuff. 8pm-3am. :[

Gears Of War 2 was a lot of fun. Horde shined bright...until Firefight from Halo came along.

Modern Warfare 2 was fun for a bit, but it's worn off. I got to 70 through sheer perseverance, and a love for rapid-fire, akimbo P90's. Then I was told to Prestige, and I went "FUCK THIS!"

I never played Dante's Inferno. It was between that or Bayonetta. I went with Bayonetta. I chose wisely. ^^
