Just like the headline said. Less than an hour ago, I was sitting on a stage being formally promoted from 8th grader to a 9th grader.
So. Now that that's out of the way. What do I need to know about high school?
I'm really bad about procrastination, so I need tips for that, too. But please, any helpful advice is welcome.

Also, I'm wearing an awesome tuxedo.

I know from experience, once it gets to about 1 or 2 in the morning, you'll work out of panic. That's basically all my high school career right there.

Also, everyone will be all "oh, high school is so dramatic!"

It's not.

Just bear with the backstabbing and failed relationships and in a few years they'll all grow up.

Study hard. (dur. :p)
Make friends. (also dur.)
Try to do as much extra-curricular stuff as possible (sports, artistic things like writing or drawing)
Figuring yourself out is gonna be tough but you'll work it out eventually.
Until you're sure of yourself, try to keep it just to the few people that you know you can trust, rather than stereotype yourself in the first few days with a new peer group.

Oh, and give almost everyone a second chance.

my tip: get through middle school and the ninth grade with little attention drawn to yourself as possible since middle school kids are pure evil. the rest of high school should be a breeze.

Take it from someone in 12th grade; In a matter of years you will look back on yourself as you are now and think "I was a bit retarded, but at least I got better grades than I do now".

Join a robotics team or something similar, band camp works too, but you need a nerdy family to fall back on.

>.< That's exactly what happened with me. I looked back and was like "Damn, I was a little shit, but at least I did better than C average."

EDIT: I guess I should actually contribute something, too.

Study and don't procrastinate.

Make sure you're 100% positive of what you stick your dick in. Trust me on that one.

Yeah. Couple that with the feeling that every grade beneath yours seems to have something seriously wrong with them and basically nothing else changes.

You got a ceremony? Huh, didn't happen to me.

Be nice, study hard, have fun and don't let the teachers get on your nerves too much. Remember, everyday finished is a day closer to freedom.

I just graduated a couple of weeks ago, so my best tip is this: Don't worry.

Seriously, I flew by for the last four years and barely had to apply myself to get decent enough grades. Never failed a class or came close to it. So just don't worry and try to enjoy high school.

Assuming the 9th grade correlates to Year 9- everyone's 13-14- everyone will be complete dicks. Choose your friends wisely.

Pretty much just this.

Just remember, anything that you think is cool now, you will be "wtf was I thinking" by the time you are a senior, or definitely when you are a freshmen in college--and they cycle will repeat. Good luck to you, mate.

Try to get the work done as soon as you get it so you won't have to worry about it later on, or at lease you gave yourself a head start.

OT:
No one is awesome in a tuxedo, even you, Adrian. (If your name was Adrian you would be freaking out wouldn't you?) Thanks, Yahtzee

Everything that is vital and world-changing today will be trivial in a few years, do not let your failures get you down, do not let your successes go to your head.

Do things that are hard and unfamiliar, now is the time for making mistakes and learning from them.

Everyone around you is just as lost as you are, they just might not be as aware of it.

Enjoy what you can, suffer what you must, make it to college. Try to do some part-time work over the summer in about two or three more years to get a taste of that scene.

Enjoy your parents while you still have them, in about six to ten more years you're on your own.

Nobody's getting laid in high school as much as they may make it seem, if it's not important to you don't let it be forced on you. Relationship experience, on the other hand, is a really good idea at this point. The chances of finding true love are infintesimal, but, like everything else, this is a time to learn from your mistakes.

It's not as big from the other side, you'll do fine.
