Same rules as in prison ;P

1.Don't Snitch
2.Don't call to much attention to yourself
3.Listen to the guards (well...teachers)
4.Try to make the best of your time (study)
5.Don't fight in the yard

if i were you, i would look into taking online courses, if possible. i wish i had. 9 weeks in a classroom is apparently the same as like 2 weeks on a computer.

i also wish i didnt take any gym classes until my senior year. if you have as many different gym classes as my school did, you would be able to just hang out in gym for almost an entire year. not a bad deal, imo.

You just made me realize how old I am.

Again.

Either stay in school and study something that has some sort of value-- math, science, technology, preferably-- or get a trade.

Don't become a lawyer. Damned parasites, thats what they are.

Drink.

In all seriousness, not giving a fuck what people think seems to be the best advice I can give on the subject. Seriously, people that age are largely going to be dicks. Don't be one of them.

I just came out of Freshman year, so here are some uh words of wisdom. I guess.

-People who are in a lot of romantic relationships generally don't have very many, if any at all, friends. Don't be one of those people. Find a healthy balance.

-Don't drink, that's fucking retarded. I'm sure all of the kids who think they are hot shit will go out to the middle of goddamn no where and pound down some light beers and Jack Daniels under the impression this makes them so super cool, but trust me, it doesn't.

-Don't do any substances. You never know when you'll need to have a drug test done.

-Do not think that Freshman school year doesn't count and you can just fly by with some 2.3 GPA. That's crap. If you don't take the time to care about your grades it can really come back and bite you in the ass.

-Remember to have fun, and realize not much of it is as big of a deal as it seems. It will make your life sooooooooooooo much easier (and more fun)

-Don't give a fuck about what people think about you, just be yourself. That's how true friends are found.

-Be inExtra curriculars, not enough can make the difference between what college you go to and what one you don't.

1. Get good grades.
2. Do extra curricular activities (community service or sports).
3. Look into College early.

Unless you are going into the work force/trade school, high school is all about getting into a good college with scholarships.

Extra Things

4. Be popular.
5. If 4 is not an option, become the one no one takes an interest in/leaves you alone.
6. Get a girl, but don't get attached.

Try to work hard, enter courses that interest you, make real friends who like you for who you are and just have fun. I'm almost finished 11th grade and these tips helped me a lot so far.

Don't run around shouting ****** like a homophobic machine gun, it makes you look like a dick.

Don't be a dick intentionally.

Keep your head down and your grades up and you should do fine.

Make sure any of your new girlfriends have an index finger longer than their ring finger. If they don't, dump "HIM".

Highschool is much easier (socially) than middle school.
Be friendly with everyone.
Don't try to be someone you're not. (Oh what a cliche...WELL IT'S TRUE!)
Get on the teacher's good side, it helps out a looot. I'm not talking about teacher's pet but just...yeah.
Don't think because it's your first year that you can goof off. NO! Do worry about your grades. Make an effort.

Umm...I think everyone else has mentioned the necessary. Good luck freshman!

Take it from someone in 12th grade; In a matter of years you will look back on yourself as you are now and think "I was a bit retarded, but at least I got better grades than I do now".
Ha so true

Take some fun clubs, and dont waste your time with Pre-AP if the subject is difficult for you, I made top 10 with only taking 1 pre-AP class and many peoples GPA went down a lot because they took a pre-AP class that they were not good at.

Ok to get the social shit outta the way.

1. DO NOT pigeonhole yourself into a particular click. (Yes, even if your a member of a click from elementary school.) Your in highschool now, you don't have to be a jock, or prep, or goth, rocker, hip hopper. Sticking out in a crowd, is not being an individual, especially when hundreds of other kids think their sticking out too. Just be you.

2. Expand on your group of elementary school friends by taking classes they are not. Odds are you'll see your old friends in Science/Math/Geography/English.

3. (I hate to add this one in but...)Unfortunately there are dicks everywhere. Some juniors and seniors see it as the sole mission in HS to make your first year of highschool suck. So don't be a shithead, but don't take anyone shit either.

4. If your an introverted kid, try to break outta that pattern by at least saying hello to people who approach, and be personable and friendly in groups. If your extrovert don't be a attention seeking git. Again just be you, but no extreme's.

5. Lastly, enjoy your time is HS, it goes by very very very fast. Also you will most likely be really nervous, that is ok, so is everyone else.

Academics.

1. Don't get into a comfort zone, so much more is required of you in the next 4 yrs, it will shock you abit. Push yourself, in the following years take elective classes that you think you would not enjoy for sheer learning value.

2. Always take good notes, add enough detail so in the acting of writing your memory will do better to absorb it.

3. For tests and exams study,(especially if you have forewarning) don't cram. Cramming does not work.

4. During the week, get a good night sleep. Feeling refreshed is awesome.

5. Don't freak out and obsess over your mistakes or a failure, listen to your teachers, strive to understand why you messed up and do better next time.

6. If some teachers in some classes offered extra work toward a better grade or rising your grade, take it if you need and sometimes even if you don't.

7. You will probably hear this from all your teachers from now on and it will sound like bullshit, but it is the truth, everyone starts out at an A/100%, its up to you whether you keep that A or not.

Edit: If you are a true procrastinator, you need to break that habit, make a schedule, stick to it. Write down for yourself at home and school, keep it by the class timetable, and one in your locker. In group projects (trust you'll have plenty) don't let the group carry you, they'll hate you for it, and most likely rat you out. When offered your spare period when your a junior do not take it if you have to make up for a dropped or failed class.

AND CONGRATS ON GRADUATING.

So. Now that that's out of the way. What do I need to know about high school?
I'm really bad about procrastination, so I need tips for that, too. But please, any helpful advice is welcome.
Firstly, everyone will say "it's ok if you're a procrastinator, everyone does it." THAT IS NOT TRUE. Try everything you can to change yourself, because I guarantee you that you'll be feeling on top of the world when you finished that essay a week ago, and everyone else is gonna be up all night doing it.

Other than that, just be yourself, be nice to everyone you can, get yourself some good friends, and party it up.

Don't hold off on projects to the last day.(personal experience.)
Keep your GPA up.
Do extra-ciriculers.(helps with having fun and scholarships)
Prepare for whatever big test that's where you live.

I'm not the best person to ask, but Here's my tips
1. Don't fear the seniors - If you're the kind of person who can make friends easy, try talking to some seniors. During my high school career, they've been some of the best friends I've had. Many of them will show you the ropes.
2. Don't get cocky- This is actually a problem of mine, and I've made some enemies due to it (Any of you who read my earlier posts know what I mean). You'll do a lot better without cockiness. So if you've got a witty response to everything, save them for the perfect time.
3. Go into multiple posses- Don't restrict yourself in friends
