It looks rather fantastic. We don't get enough games with decent characters, and decent characterisation, and character relationships without them becoming romantic. It's also an original game. And made by Naughty Dog. It's also a PS3 exclusive, something that doesn't happen very often for such a well known game. In fact, ND seem to be the only developers who make anything exclusive any more.

I remember seeing the E3 and I thought it was pretty cool, if a bit brutal. Not to say that it should be censored or something, I've just never seen a game where the violence was so... real.
Yeah, I saw that too, and I just did not expect the melee to be that intense. Especially the bit with the brick (see video in spoiler below). I thought it would be a simple 'toss it to distract the guy' thing like Hitman or Far Cry 3.
Watch a couple minutes of that for the combat.

Graphics are astounding, but NOT groundbreaking. Uncharted 2 & 3 already delivered us that sort of graphics, even other games have showed use that sort of power (or MORE), such as God of War 3 and Final Fantasy XIII/XIII-2, to mention a few. That's not something bad at all, after all, as said, the graphics are fucking gorgeous, but we've seen that before, and fact is, nowadays we are STILL seeing really crappy stuff lying around.

As for the enemies... That's what keeps my hopes really low for this game. I mean, "zombies", AGAIN... WOW, I mean, they're NOT zombies, they are "crazed up people infected by a fungal virus", so they don't eat human flesh and might not be UNdead, but as far as it matters for a game, they seem to run at you in unquenchable rage, like ZOMBIES; let's face it, they ARE zombies, a variation much closer to real life "zombies" (people who are laid in a catatonic coma, then deprived of oxygen for a certain amount of time: the damage to the brain renders the person a real "zombie", almost as if going through lobotomy, etc), but zombies anyway. The Walking Dead, in my opinion, only works because the zombies are mere mechanical elements to drive a much bigger DRAMA story, but that hardly works in games (unless it's an adventure game, like The Walking Dead itself), maybe because it wouldn't sell to help people keep a farm hahaha.

I think the game will SELL well. If people will actually like it or not I don't know. For one, I don't dare mention if I'm gonna enjoy it or not, so far it looks mediocre in comparison to games we already have, that means it doesn't look astounding, but doesn't look half-bad either. Time will tell...

Eh, I don?t know.
Post apocalyptic setting with a gruff hardened survivor dude who lost everything (and likely had a daughter who died judging from the movie poster conversation) is forced to take care of young girl that reminds of the daughter he lost and ends up caring for her is a fairly standard set up. I bet he dies at the end too. Yes I know stories repeat but I'm getting sick of this one.
Oh which reminds me, come to think of it I wonder why there isn't an apocalypse setting where the main character is a gruff hardened survivor woman taking care of a little boy.

It doesn't look like it's doing anything new.
Video games don't necessarily have to do something new to be good.
Dragon Quest 8 did absolutely nothing new with the JRPG genre, but people who play the series love that game because it's just a well crafted, solid experience. It doesn't do anything new, but what it does do, it does damn well.

I saw the demo during E3 and I've been pretty pumped for it ever since. It looks like it will be a lot of fun to play.

Ah you have a point, my mistake. I did like Dragon quest 8.

I'm very interested, it'll probably be my day 1 game of 2013.

The zombie aspect seems to be pretty downplayed here. After the E3 demo I thought it was a more a general plague that has a a high fatality rate rather than a zombie apocalypse, and even this trailer focuses on conflict with other survivors.

It was a definite buy for me until I played Uncharted 3. I loved Uncharted 2, I love Jak 2, but the third was very bad I thought. Filler levels, weak story, very short, and a multiplayer that broke, so I couldn't use it anymore. I just don't understand how IGN gave it a 10/10.

But Last of Us... could be good. I'm not getting my hopes up this time, but I haven't completely given up on them.

Well, to its credit, the hype so far has brought me as close to buying a PS3 as I've ever been. However, I still won't buy an entire console for just one or two exclusives that sound good (the other being Journey). So I likely won't ever be able to play it...but it seems like the kind of linear game that watching a Let's Play would be enough to get the basic experience.

Please no more "So..." threads, just, please. It's not cute or clever.

Ive already written off last of us as yet another in the long line of uncharted clones. Fucking uncharted... no, rather, fucking the copycat nature of the modern day gaming industry.

Anyway Im hoping ill be surprised, but i doubt it
How exactly is it a Uncharted clone? I don't see anything that points to that conclusion.

The game looks terrific, even if the motion capture straddles the uncanny valley at times.

6) Isn't the zombie apocalypse a little played out at this point?
But they aren't zombies. They have a fungal infection:

What's a zombie then? Someone under a voodoo curse?

White everyman protagonist with white everyman haircut. Its basically nate drake in his mid life crisis period. The gunplay looks fucking identical, the narrow, corridor design, even outside. Everything makes it look like uncharted.
You are describing just about every protagonist in the last decade. So, It looks like Uncharted because your problem with it can be contributed to you projecting on to the game. You didn't describe any "clone".

I've been envious of PS3 owners since I first learned about this game. Sadly, I don't think I'll ever play it because I'm not going to buy a new PS3 just for this game.

Hey, it's better than another call of duty or modern warfare game.

It looks great, but it's Naughty Dog, so duh.

I still don't really know what the gameplay is going to entail though. It sort of looks like Uncharted, which isn't too bad, but there seems to be some more brutallity to it.

From what I've seen of the girl? Nothing good. I have a great dislike for Ellen Paige and little smart mouths, and this character seems to combine the two perfectly. And especially since The Walking Dead pulled off the child character so fantastically, I'm really in no mood for any of that smarmy brat bullshit in The Last Of Us.
