I used to play all the time in high school and I mainly used a Black and Red deck. I had a Blue and White deck going on and it was almost to where I wanted it to be until I graduated and went to college. I knew no one that played and so I haven't been active in so long I almost forgot how to play. >.<

I recently picked it back up and am starting from scratch since I lost my other decks in a move, and so I'm slowly rebuilding a Black deck. Then I get to have the fun of finding people again to play with, and I'm hoping it's not gonna be that hard.

Extremely casual player here, I'm only now just building my first two real decks. Both are Green-Black, one is based around defenders and the other is based on deathtouch. Both are extremely experimental and I expect both to suck, but I'm not going to spend a ton of money on cards.

I played it pretty passionately about 8 years ago, in my teenage years. Now, not so much, since most of my friends that do play either plays on tournaments, with newer cards (that are almost every time better than those that I use, from older editions) or they moved to other countries and we don't see ourselves that much nowadays.

But I used a Black/ Red combo with Worldgorger Dragon. It was a fun little thing :)

I played casually for a while. Never was that into it, but I do a pick-up game every now and then. My personal favorite is Black & Blue with plenty of cheap vampires, DOOM BLADE, mind control, and a few grave-robbing tactics.

My favorite opponents are ones that build up a few monsters with spells/trinkets and the like. Nothing is more satisfying to me than insta-killing the monster they just dumped tons of mana and/or spells and resurrecting it as my own. Or, better yet, mind control it. Then, if he manages to kill it, bring it back on the board as my own.

Not as dirty as my friend's rat deck, but I get a kick out of it.

I play Magic, but currently all my deckbuilding is on hold until I enact a Grand Sort and get all my cards organized.

But the new Ravnica set might very well cramp those plans. I swear, this game has me man...

I once, on a whim, built a burn deck without any monsters. Also, it had only three spells. The rest was mana and mana giving artifacts. I'm sorry to say that my friends were tired of losing to it.

When you can have ten mana out by turn 3, 1,X burn cards are your best friend.

I play standard quite a bit, and like to keep up with the new sets and make decks with them. Not the most montarily sound way to play, but I love it. Currently have an Izzet burn deck, an Azorius mill/defender/enchantment deck, golgari beatdown and black beatdown.

I played Magic from Alpha to Kamigawa, then decided I'd had enough.

I miss the old Magic fluff with Urza, Gerrard, Tahngarth and Co. I'd always buy Fat Packs when they came out because I wanted the novel that it came with.

Now, I look at the cards put out today and marvel at how broken they are.

EDIT: My personal favorite was a Red artifact deck with Urza lands, Grafted Skullcap, Ensnaring Bridge, and Fireballs. Won four different tourneys with that deck.

I totally play magic. My favorite color is green, but I'm having trouble creating an effective green deck on a budget. This is especially sad as [mtg_card=Rancor] is standard again. ;_;

As of now I'm playing Naya Tokens for standard, and [mtg_card=Karador, ghost chieftain], [mtg_card=Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind], and [mtg_card=Skullbriar, the Walking Grave] for EDH decks. I'm in process of making a [mtg_card=Maelstrom Wanderer] deck as well.

Been playing since Ice Age. Own 65 decks, soon to be 66, as soon as my green/blue The Thing deck gets here. Favorite deck combination is green/red, single color is black. I have several disgusting MBC decks, land destruction, discard, weenie rush, extinction, necro, infect, you name a black strat, I've got a deck for it.

Started playing magic when 4th edition was released then stopped just after the Urzas saga block I believe as most of the people I played with stopped playing (wasnt a fan of the crappy storylines that took center stage after homelands either).

I still play occasionally but last time was about 3 years ago when I entered a sealed deck tournament did ok coming 8th out of 50 (would have been higher but I got caught out by a rule change costing me a really really close game, dammit).

I used to love making crazy combo decks my favourite one was able to generate infinite mana and copy a spell an infinite amount of times so with the wishes you could actually in theory play every card in magic an infinite amount of times in one turn damn that was a fun deck to play wasnt competitive though. My best competitive deck was a black rushdown deck before dark ritual was banned most of the deck consisted of 1 mana black creatures and then buff spells that could be cast for free if you sacrificed a creature it wasnt unusual to do 9 damage to the opponent on turn 2 and usually win by turn 4, but if it went over 8 turns you usually lost. That deck performed amazingly at the time and it cost me nothing as about 90 percent of the deck was commons.

I used to run a winter orb/mana web discard deck back in the day. I dunno, I really liked playing solitary Magic or something...

I gave up on Magic after that set with the Slivers came out. All those new rules and crappy instants (Shock for 2 damage? I'll take a Lightning Bolt, thanks) just turned me off. I miss Revised...

I like white, I started playing around the time Avacyn Restored came out so I have a thing for angels, playing it white/green. I use green to get lots of mana because most of my angel cards are rather costly. still tweaking my deck though, I don't play all that often since I don't know anyone who plays it, so all my MTG games are played at Friday Night Magic. And everyone there just seems to copy pro player's decks, so I sort of always lose.

But I still love it, it's so fun I don't care about winning.

I've had two Magic decks in my life. One was a modified Into the Breach deck (monored with a heavy focus on Battle Cry and also lots of Kuldotha Rebirth). I won a tournament with it once. :D

The other was a black infect deck that my nephew gave me. I think I only used it once.

I kinda want to get back into Magic, actually.

I used to play a 5 colour deck full of dual lands but that was back in the day of unlimited/revised. I haven't played for a good 10 years and thats probably because my deck was a game wrecker and none of my friends could deal with it. Vesuvan Dopplegangers and clones are just ridiculous for defence, especially with howling mines, a sylvan library, and a buyback counterspell or 2 (a later addition when we tried to get into it again).

I'm semi-new to Magic the Gathering, as I was only really introduced to it by my friend a couple of years ago and only started playing about a one year ago. It helps that Magic Workstation and Cockatrice help me play MTG with friends too far away to play with in person. Anyway, I have a few pre-made decks, two of which I deconstructed and mixed with cards from a Deck Builder's Toolkit to make 3 custom ones. My favorite one right now is a white/black Human-focused deck. Champion of the Parish is the gift that keeps on giving.

I play quite frequently, but due to there being no card shops near my area (all are over an hour away), I mostly end up playing with friends in an 'anything goes' tournament.

Favorite decks.. Hmm.. My main one was a Green Mana-ramp for Eldrazi, and my secondary is a blue/red deck focused around spell casting.

I do tend to run other decks occasionally, but they usually boil down to me trying to perfect exactly one really awkward strategy on that deck (an early game Worldfire for instance. Almost never works, but when it does... it is just beautiful.).

I used to play MTG, started back in revised edition in the mid-90's. (around Fallen Empires as well)
Back when you could argue that Shivan Dragon was hax.

~Funny story.
I told my mom I was getting into Magic: The Gathering, and to surprise me with some boosters. She bought me some books on the occult. Imagine the look on my face.

I used to play tournaments and stuff, but nowadays I only play casually. Most of my friends are quite new to the game and/or only play casual play as well, so my goal is to try to build themed/aesthetic/funny decks with very strict self-imposed rare/uncommon limits. No block limits though, as it's sometimes hard to build decks with a coherent theme along block lines.

Right now, I play an almost creatureless black/white deck. It uses a whole ton of removal/control/life-gain to stay alive, hopefully long enough to play Sanguine Bond and then kill everyone with more life gain. It'd be pretty ineffective in real play, but is great fun and nicely balanced against my friends decks.
