I don't know if it has been officially announced or whatever, but this thread is pretty much another 'expectations thread'.
I want the game to be peppered with variety, a good story and a bullet-time mode that functions better and flows better as well.
I DON'T want multiplayer, as this will probably be one of the few releases that keeps true to it's predecessor(like Duke Nukem Forever keeps true to the original idea of Duke Nukem 3D), I also don't want it to be based entirely on spectacles.

What are your expectations?

Is gonna suck balls, if the screenshots are real.

Who got the idea of setting the sequel to a great series filled to the brim with violence in a dark, cold and uncaring city in fucking Brazil?

Sigh. I don't have the system to play it (unless the release it on PC). All I know is that MP 2 was AMAZING. All the little details like the television shows that progressed if you found a tv in levels as you went along, and how the TV shows replicated what was happening in the game..and etc. God I must have played that game over 30 times with my best friend. We used to try to see who could get the most ridiculous slow motion death.

Sometimes a game is just pure awesome.

I don't think MP3 will be that way. A good game probably, but not epic.

Yes, they are real (the game was announced ages ago, and the screens are from a Game Informer preview) and this is an amazing feat of deduction from a few screenshots.

The argument goes that noir isn't limited to the setting.

Whoa whoa whoa, hold the phone. Since when isn't the game being released for the PC? Wasn't it announced multiplatform as PC, X360 & PS3??

Anyway so far it isn't looking very good in my opinion. Which is sad because I loved the first 2 games.

That's why I started this thread; I liked Max Payne 1 & 2, but want to see other people's opinion of what they expect from an exceptional and orginal series of games.

That pretty much sums up my opinion of Assassin's Creed and how many times I played it if you replace those specific words.

Ahh. See I only recently knew that the MP games were on PC. I played them on the XBOX. Sucks that my CD scanner was rubbish and had a hard time reading CD's near the end of its life. =]

I'm sceptical, but even if it isn't, Max Payne is still limited to the setting.

Never played a Max Payne game in my life. One of those series I've somehow missed. If Max Payne appears, I'll almost certainly give it a try.

I'm skeptical because Sam Lake isn't going to be involved at all. He is a master story-teller and he is responsible for that great 'feel' of both the games.

In Alan Wake, there is a scene where you get to read a few pages of one of Wake's earlier novels and they're read to you by the guy who did the voice for Max Payne. The passage seemingly hints that Max Payne is dying, which would mean that the franchise is dead to Sam Lake.

The question is whether or not Rockstar (is it Rockstar developing?) can still bring that cool noir essence to the franchise. And children, I have my doubts.

i'm cautiously optimistic. i don't think rockstar would do something as staggeringly stupid as to ruin everything we loved about the first two games, so the seemingly retarded choices they've revealed so far are probably misleading, but you never know.

No. Max Payne now is fat, bald, and running around in Brazil killing militia, go check out the site and the screens. It's going to be shit, no way they will be able to have it still feel like Max Payne with such a different... everything.

Just saw the screens.

What the fuck.

That's about all I have to say. I have no idea where they're going with this. Rockstar does have a game of their own coming out, literally called "LA Noire" of all things. So.. I guess no one cares if the original theme behind the Payne franchise is butchered.

Looks like a bastardized molding of Splinter Cell: Conviction and Uncharted. Guess I won't really be looking forward to this. I'll keep my eye on L.A. Noire and Deus Ex: Human Revolution.
