This was a crap family guy joke many years ago, it's nice to see reality follow satire into the depths of eternal laughter. Spoiler alert: Everyone loses in the end. The best you can hope for is feeling slightly relevant and loved by an imaginary friend. Who will betray you with enough time.
Its not just satire reality follows. Concepts in movies from the 80's, 90's and 00's is influencing scientist and the rich. Like how a few months ago, maybe end of last year, some Govenment group in the US created a system called "Skynet". FUCKING SKYNET!!

Honestly, I am going to predict that everything in Demolition Man will come true. Faux meat, VR intercourse and those damn 3 seashells. HOW DO YOU USE THEM?!?!

Apocalypto was released just six months after that whole DUI thing and the movie made 120 million dollars against its 40 million dollar budget. You bring him back because he makes good movies and people still care.
Except they don't; they really, REALLY don't. Apocalypto was also ten years during the DUI. That was one thing because a DUI is pretty common and even his tirade could be chalked up to him being drunk. And then came the divorce. And then came the domestic violence charges with his mistress. The guy still makes movies, but no one sees them. The guy is washed up and the world at large does not care.

While he might very well be washed up, it seems unlikely that DUIs and domestic violence would do that, a successful celeb can have those overlooked quite easily.

Do we laugh or do we cry? I know which one keeps me mostly hydrated at least.
Once...I tried getting three seashells together. They bickered and fought and murdered each other in the end. Perhaps this is a Utopia we must work towards. How can we ever work with the seashells if they can't work with each other? (Actually that may have been a dream or a trip. I stand by it nonetheless!)

Oh please be "The Passion of Muhammad".
Followed by "The Passion of Joseph Smith", then some spinoffs, and we can finally get that Super Best Friends movie.

OT: Don't care much about The Passion, but i liked Apocalypto, so if Mad Mel gets excused by Hollywood for his drunk shit fit and other and things gets to make more movies like that one, i'd be okay with this.

So... will this one be Jesus Strikes Back?

Maybe throw in a third movie, Return of the Christ? Perhaps then he can start on some prequels.

please tell me it's just an autobiographical film that asserts that Mel Gibson is the second coming of Jesus

Anyway, the mockery is idiotic. Are people really that ignorant? Apparently. Passion of the Christ was not a very good movie. It was essentially torture porn based more on mystical writings from a crackpot than the Bible. But there is a significant amount of material to make a sequel. Jesus is like Mad Max. He doesn't have to appear all that much in the sequel. You just have to look at how his death and resurrection affects his disciples.
You know, what you describe could be a decent movie. Jesus did inspire a lot of people to do a lot of things. However, it would be markedly different in style than the first one. I think people expect a sequel to be similar to the earlier installment. Hence the mockery. That and a lot of people didn't like the first movie judging by the comments here.

Didn't Iran release that kind of movie this year? Quite suprised they managed to pull that off.

Regarding Jesus' Comeback, interesting to see what sort of movie they are trying to make.

Mel, go back inside and do some drugs until your face turns blue. You're not ready for the outside world yet.

So even most people complain about the torture porn the previous film had, you still need something similar to br more interesting? I don't get it. Do you really want to see Jesus to suffer more to be more interesting?
Btw I never saw the whole film, just the beggining, so i don't know nothing about the "porn" the movie have...
OK, I don't know where to start. So, let's start with the term "torture porn". The term was coined after the movie series Saw and Hostel became popular. It's not pornography. It's a criticism of movies that seem to have no plot or purpose other than to show people being tortured to death. So, that is why other people and myself referred to The Passion of the Christ as "torture porn". Since, you haven't seen the movie all the way. There were a lot of gratuitous torture scenes in the movie.

Complaining about the post-resurrection life of Christ. All he did was to hang out with his friends & family, gave one more sermon, and disappeared. That is really anti-climatic. No, I don't want to see Jesus be tortured anymore. If they had better material to base a sequel to the movie, I would be for it. It just isn't there.

Risen tried to do this already. Maybe it could be done better but Risen was at best tolerable. I'll happily sit my ass down in front of a well done documentary on this subject, but a movie attempting to dramatize it does not appeal to me at all. That's even before we look at whatever batshit insane things Gibson has planned for it.

The 40 days after Christ's resurrection are not all that interesting anyway. The eventual fates and achievements of the Apostles after those events on the other hand...that was some epic stuff. They might have ascribed to pacifism but one and all they were brave and badass as fuck.

There will be so many fanatics who will see this movie just for the sake of supporting it, for that feeling they got the first time around.
