Funny how things change with time, right?I said before, can you imagine if 10 years ago somebody said "You'd be sick hype for the new Raiden game but you don't care much for a Devil May Cry game" and I would've punched anyone in the face.
I've actually found the bosses really easy so far, with the sole exception of Blade Wolf. Even if you do manage to counter Wolf's attacks, he'll either hit you anyway, stagger your guard, or (and this is extremely rare) sit there and eat a low damaging combo.WanderingFool said:Having played it (not beaten yet), I can say the Demo did not lie. But damn if the bosses arent a *****...
I'm not positive, but I want to say a review said all your BP and equipment carry over across playthroughs and difficulty levels even. I gotta ask though, does anyone know how to daze enemies? The game expects me to kill seven Cyborgs and a Gekko in 40 seconds, and that shit just ain't happenin'.
Also, is there a NG+ or chapter select? I don't want to spend the entire game saving up for the Fox Blade at the expense of gimping myself, and then only spend two missions using it.
Zeong?NameIsRobertPaulson said:Monsoon is making my life hell. Yeah hasn't ruined the canon in any way except totally missing the point about how Raiden is supposed to be a metaphorical representation of the player in the game. It's like, Raiden sucks, because you the person playing the game sucks. That was kinda the whole sub text of MGS 2. Then in MGS 4 he was metaphorical of the most bland superficial elements of the series that people like while totally missing the sub text.NameIsRobertPaulson said:Cause opinions man.Roman Monaghan said:My thoughts are I feel like the only person in the world who fucking hates this game.
Someone please enlighten me on why so many people are pretending it's not a huge waste. It feels like Crackdown all over again.
For a longer answer: Platinum makes great games in this genre, it doesn't affect Metal Gear Solid canon in any way, and the gameplay thus far has been really fun. Those are the three reasons I hear most.
You talk about missing the point and subtext. In fact that kinda sums up Revengaence to me perfectly. Bland superficial elements of the series that people like while totally missing the point. It's like bad fan fiction. "AND I HATE ROSE SO SHE'S NOT IN THE GAME! AND THEN HE GETS A PET ROBOT DOG! AND THEN HE HAS A SUPER POWERED EVIL SIDE!!!"
The story blows ass and the gameplay isn't as good as Bayonetta, so what exactly justifies this games existence again?
Worse! I believe they just made it up... given that I doubt you'll find revengeance in any thesaurus, they just added vengeance and revenge which are almost synonymous as it is...The Madman said:Revengeance? What, did they exhaust the dictionary and just decide to start paging through the thesaurus for obscure words that sound vaguely manly? What's next, exploobs?
Surely if Raiden represents the player in MGS2, through wanting a sequel and being Snake(fans)/actually wanting to be like snake(Raiden) and some players complained about the high minded "metababble" thus showing they prefer the superficial elements to the subtext, and then MGR:R comes to literally BE the superficial MGS experience and stars Raiden, surely this is just taking MGS2's subtext to it's logical conclusion.Roman Monaghan said:Yeah hasn't ruined the canon in any way except totally missing the point about how Raiden is supposed to be a metaphorical representation of the player in the game. You do know the story is Hideo Kojimas own? He wrote rising and just left platinum with the gameplay.Roman Monaghan said:Yeah hasn't ruined the canon in any way except totally missing the point about how Raiden is supposed to be a metaphorical representation of the player in the game. I see what you did there and I liked it.Kopikatsu said:Anyway, eh. I just went toe to toe with him when he fought normally, spammed parry when he used the Red Phosphorous grenade, and flailed about wildly when he did his Buggy the Clown routine.
Yay for tons of Nanorepair pastes or whatever.
Well, I knew what a Zeong was, I just didn't know what you were referring to. But now I know, the Sai thing.NameIsRobertPaulson said:With the wire guided Sais. I parry one, the other hits me and does like 35% damage before I can recover. Plus he starts dodging EM grenades.
Okay, no it isn't. I'm sick of people fucking saying that like it excuses anything, because it isn't fucking true, and it doesn't fucking matter. Etsu Tamari wrote this game, not Kojima. He may have signed off on it, but that doesn't make it ok, we all remember Max Payne 3; it had approval from Sam Lake, but that didn't fix the fact the story was dog shit.endnuen said:You do know the story is Hideo Kojimas own? Raiden is just as Hideo wants him to be, and his "evil side" is actually brought up in MGS2 if I recall.
