So...Movie43.

Okay so i went to the cinema to see Movie 43 with my buddies and let me just say i had so much fun it hurt, but i get home and see some reviews and people are DESTROYING this film. I mean fair enough, from a film critic or aficionado stand point its awful, it has sloppy directing and has almost no real script...but you know what, maybe its just the immature teenager in me that thinks there is something magical about sitting down with your immature friends and having a grand old time laughing at vagina/feces/penis/sex/midget/more vagina/racial jokes...

So people, what were your thoughts on Movie43...

I haven't seen it, and it's doubtful I will, since there are other movies I haven't seen yet I'm more interested in.

I say this, though. You can make good vagina/feces/penis/sex/midget/more vagina/racial jokes, but I'd rather have them with a real script and good directing, you know?

It's difficult to tell with trailers, but I get the 'ooh, aren't we being rude and totally out there!'-feeling, and that's not interesting to me. If you make 'rude' jokes, it's nice to have some idea behind them, you know? Some ambition.

(Although some jokes in the trailers were funny to me, like the 'homeschooling'-bit. I like absurd humor that's grounded in reality, taking normal concepts and blending them together to make something that follows it's own warped logic. If the movie has more of that, I might be interested.)

OT: I didn't know about this movie until know. I went to go see some trailers and well... it doesn't look like something I'd want to see in the cinema. I think I'd enjoy it much more with a bunch of friends in mine or their houses.

Mind you, might just be terrible advertising, that's not unknown, but it seems to me they think the appeal is in daring to be "daring" and "edgy" and not-PC, and hoping the audience hasn't realised this applies to at least half the comedies made today.

OT: I've never been the biggest fan of awkward sexual and toilet humor, so it's probably for the best that I avoided that movie and saw Django Unchained instead.

Yeah, although trailers are more of the advertiser's idea of what the movie should be like.

It had some interesting looking ideas, but if it lacks character and ambition to be more than 'FECES AND VAGINAS EXIST!'.

Because I'm aware they exist.

Though if I want to hear vagina/feces/penis/sex/midget/more vagina/racial jokes I'll save myself the £7.50 ticket price and just listen to an episode of the Destructoid Podtoid podcast for free. I just got finished catching up with the episode I missed the other week titled "Homeless Men Masturbating with Glow-in-the-dark Paint".

Just watching the trailers, I can tell what its going to be like. Im not going to say Im above being immature, but that not enough to get me to watch it. And going by what you said in your post, its basically a hour and a half of crude jokes. I can get that off the internet for free...

So no, Im not going to see it anytime soon (i.e. never...)

If you enjoyed it, good for you. No, seriously, I don't give a shit what movies, tv, or games you like as long as you truly find enjoyment in them.

I just don't appreciate that type of easy "look at how offensive we are" humor and neither do the critics. It's just lazy in the film business imo.
