My last one stopped reading - It also decided it would scratch the games just to prove a point...Thus I have given up with the 360 (2 red rings, 1 sudden death plus this one).

I'll put a disc in and it'll load for about 5 seconds before saying "Open tray" on the main dashboard, it just won't do it with any game. Does anybody know how to solve this?

Maybe it got bored of Final Fantasy XIII >_>
This happened to me. After a few goes of open tray, close tray, it tends to work...or if I just leave the disc in there for ages, then open/close tray. Generally I have to switch my xbox on about 20 - 30 minutes prior to when I want to play...
It's a pain, but Microsoft said they couldn't fix it for free because it is still playable.

Happens to me too.

All.

The.

Time.

I just open and close the tray repeatedly, there seems to be no alternative for me, it eventually works.
If it still doesnt work try find some other disc that may work, for me its some disc I got from a magazine with videos and demos and the like on it.
If it still doesnt work take the disc out turn the Box off and turn it on its side or lay it flat, whichever way it wasnt before.

Also, for me after turning the Box off depending on the last disc that was read it often causes the problem again next time you turn it on.
So if I play Bad Company 2 or Halo Reach and not switch over to Dead Space or Guitar Hero before I turn it off then when you turn it back on you will probably get the problem again.

But I guess every problem is unique so yeah.

ok mine does the same thing sometimes what u have to do is take the disc out then when the tray is out on the xbox is on push the tray back in quite quickly then immediately turn it off and u will hear it buzzing for a second or so. Then just turn it back on normally and it should be fine. That always makes mine work again
