Firstoval, my computer sucks.

Got that? i am going too fast? did i stopped you from jumping to the conclusion that i DARED to hate Minecraft and spamming ma mail? goody.

There is this new "OPEN TO LAN" feature that came up with a few drawbacks, i cant play offline without having an atrocious ammount of lag like i was playing in Multiplayer.

Is it there a way to prevent this? do i need a better computer? do i need to shut down the modem or something even if i am not technically using it? do i have to downgrade my Minecraft from the /bin file?

Did you even notice this performance issue? In fact, what do you think of having to upgrade the hardware for a game that was working just fine the way it was before?

You have the option to turn on the LAN. It's not always on.
But somehow without touching ANYTHING at all, the lag on SINGLE player its unbereable.

This is in a pre-release/snapshot, right? If so, don't complain, the whole point of these is to iron out the bugs before the official patch.
But if he doesn't complain, how will Mojang know there is a problem?

Actually these "little updates" have been going on week after week, witch is quite nice to how developers actually care about their products for once. However, the problem of lag in single player has been around for quite some time since the "OPEN TO LAN" also came into light so i was kinda expecting for people to share their opinion on this since i am pretty sure that not many people have a good computer and most of us just have a decent one to play indie games or old games that stand the test of time.

In fact, if one is pessimistic and think that gamers are entitled, then one could logically assume that they will RAAAAAAAAAAAAGE at this "Little Performance Issue of CATASTROPIC PROPORTIONS", except it didnt happen, so maybe it only happens to a few people i suppose.

I had a lot of problems with Java until I got into the guts of it and allocated more RAM. I can't remember how I did it, there was a "how to" online and I just followed that. From memory Java only uses 256mb and the maximum you can allocate is 2048, that might be the 64 bit version of Java though. Mind you this was pre-gold pre-adventure Minecraft, about 1.7 or so.

It's incredibly unlikely that you're suffering lag in single player. You may be getting crappy frame rates but that isn't lag. I hate it when people misuse that term.

I think it needs to be said that you are using a snapshot which is known for this very bug and is not at all designed as an update. It is a pre-release testing version. If it's still like that in the next full version release (1.3 i think) then by all means rage away. Until then, just don't use the optional testing versions, or else helpfully report your bugs to mojang (if they haven't already been reported. minecraftforum and their wiki have a complete list of all reported bugs.) and don't get so upset about something that by definition isn't up to a good enough state to be released.

Its actual lag:

1)I destroy a block but the resourse takes a few seconds to appear.

2)Even opening a chest takes time for the interface to appear.

3)Enemies take a while to "register" a hit

4)And of course, any attempt of facing a Creeper with hit and run tactics its useless

In short, it still lag, not the "jump cut" kind of way that crappy frame rates do.

This isn't reddit. We're not Notch's personal internet army.
One can NEVER be sure. Irrational creatures of ancient past know as "Fanboys" can be conjured by the forbiden word. A word that they believe, it will make their god really sad.

The new snapshot with the "Open to LAN" feature forces you to essentially run a server in the background.
Mojang knows about this being a problem and is working on it - they said as much on their website [http://www.mojang.com/2012/06/minecraft-snapshot-week-25/].

We?re still focusing on bug fixing so we eventually can release the 1.3 patch. The biggest problem right now is that since the game is hosting a server in the background, the game requires more hardware resources than before. We?re trying to figure out a way to solve that, but here?s a weekly snapshot for now

Just wondering why people havent EXPLODED IN RAAAAAAGE like they normally do because they fear that this update is GOING to stay.

Complaining on a website that has no relation to their product still wont let them know there is a problem.

He should be reporting bugs and looking for solutions to issues in the beta update on the minecraft forums.
Still, it could be just an update on the hardware, and having lots of people with diferent working machines may help too if that was the case.

Good lord, for someone who's asking for help, you sure are trying hard to antagonize people.

The single player LAN is a feature of the development versions, which are known to be buggy. They are not stable versions and they should not be treated as such. Uninstall Minecraft and then reinstall the most recent release version (1.2.5, I think).

I'm pretty sure Mojang is aware of the lag and other problems associated with the client/server merge. Part of the reason these development versions exist is to troubleshoot them before release. I've never installed the dev versions myself, but as far as I know, it's not something you can do accidentally. If you didn't want performance issues, you shouldn't have installed the dev versions.
