Two sides of the story. I don't know enough to make a judgement on either of them.

This is an awful lot like the Escapist/Extra Credits thing.
I never noticed how similar that incident was to this. I feel like i should have picked up on that sooner.
At least this one appears to be having a happy ending.

Don't you just love the internet? People take sides without knowing anything about the issue!

OT : Some guys. Misunderstanding. Twitter. Day like every other. F*ck it. Who cares ?
Truth^

Moral of the story: don't tweet while drunk and tired. But it's not anything to get angry about.

OK, can we just say that both parties are at fault? and can we simply say that since notch apologized for this tweets, we can put this behind us? I just want to help stop a flame war, or minecraft martial law (Notch taking back the 'you buy it once, you have it forever'). I love watching the Yogscast, I love playing minecraft, but as said in the bethesda vs mojang article,
"I hate it when Mommy and Daddy fight"

Its impossible to prove who is right or wrong, so basically people are going to judge the one they like the least as the scum of humanity.

The internet: where you can leap to conclusions and rage!

Well, at this time it is beginning to look a lot like Notch is indeed a major asshole. That wasn't entirely unexpected, still sad.

So this won't get as big and as lulzy as the Extra Credits scenario?
Damn.

Nah, Notch was just trollin'. He's a genius when it comes to that stuff, it's just a lot of his fans and the Yognau(gh)ts took his words way too seriously and thus back sassed him. He probably just wanted to punk the Yogscast and he did. I find the whole affair quite funny now. The Yogscast guys will probably get over it/figure it out soon enough, and after that they'll probably all have a good laugh about it and move on. Come on guys, even though he's a business man he can still have a little bit of fun every now and again right? I mean, if you were a part of a very successful video game company, wouldn't you play pranks on a few of your friends as well? I know I would. :D

That's a big problem, and seriously, with how much noise this issue had it's not even one of the worse ones. Some time ago on Reddit there was pretty infamous case of a "Jurassic Park Jeep" where over-zealous interwebs creatures threatened through phone calls one of ex TellTale employees over some guy making a statement that TellTale ruined his Jurassic Park Jeep, which as it come out, appeared to be a scam on the guys side to get some money of TellTale.

Witch-hunts are internet communities favourite sport sadly. One rumour is enough to make people take actions in real life...

Sorry. But to paraphrase a classic "With great trolling comes a great responsibility". Rabid fanbois these days are eager to set homes on fire whenever their "master" tells them to. It's good it ended with just insults and DDoS attacks and not actual physical violence, guess we are lucky nerds are too weak to fight? <.<

...Wtf? There is an extent to where joking goes to far (assuming this was supposed to be a joke by Notch), and this has crossed that line in my opinion. I'm not some "fanboy" of either side, but it's ludicrous. I've watched the yogscast's various videos and as far as I can tell, they uphold themselves quite well, and would never tell a child to F-off. I hope this is just half the story and there is some information to this, but I simply am dissapointed in Notch given the provided information. As I said, I really hope there is more to this story and it's some kind of misunderstanding, but that seems quite unlikely.

I still have no idea what this whole saga is all about. Last time I enquired, I read that someone swore at a convention and the internet exploded.

I liked the bit where you instantly assume Yogscast was telling the whole unadulterated truth and Notch was lying through his teeth.

Protip: Everyone involved is human. Neither are telling the whole truth, nor are they lying through their teeth. People have an amazing ability to reconstruct scenes in their head in different ways, and fully believe them.

I don't see how this could be a misunderstanding or a prank. No matter how tired you are or how much you are lacking caffeine or nicotine I don't see why either party would behave in the way they did (or apparently did). It doesn't make sense to me. I mean some pretty harmful stuff was said and/or allegedly done. How can you just put that down to a "tired misunderstanding" and just forget it? And how can it be a prank? Unless Notch is an immeasurably huge tool I can't see how he could think anyone would find this funny. And from what I've seen of both parties none of them seem to be anything like the type of person who would do these kind of things. This story is far from over. There's a lot we don't know. If it really was nothing more than a "misunderstanding" then there would be absolutely no reason to bring it out in public at all. It could have all been sorted in private. The feelings here must be stronger than something you can just forget about and move on in less than a day.
