Ah yes, I forgot that if you buy a Wii you will automatically recieve a hot girl to play with.

And if she ever gets fat you won't have to tell her because the Wii will do it for you.
No wonder Nintendo is printing money..

And if you get the 360 elite, you are almost definitely paying more than you would for a ps3 because of free PSN. If you get a 360 elite, you're probably getting a XBL gold account which is $50 a year right? How many years do you plan on keeping your xbox? Add $50 (or whatever it is) for each year; how much does that add up to? PSN is free, that means free online play for any game (so far; that'll probably change if we get mmorpgs), free demos, even free addons sometimes. The only thing you have to pay for are things like whole games (and a couple are even worth the $10), DLC, the stupid LBP costumes and a bunch of other crap you probably wouldn't bother downloading for free anyway.
Actually no, as I stated in the begining, I have recently bought and 360 elite and the PS3, the PS3 was more expensive due to cables and headset, including XBL. And like you said, the controler is a matter of preference.

As for XBL, I got the 360 first, so I have a long list of online friends there, so I don't really see myself playing too much on PSN, besides, I have a blast on XBL, literally. My group of XBL friends is screaming underage tard free.

And to whoever said to get it from Wal-mart/Sam's Club, I don't go to Wal-mart/Sam's club, personal boycot. I don't like what they do to get those low prices.
Who said anything about walmart?
Get cables from newegg and you wont get ripped off. I got both of my HDMI cables from them for $8 each.
I wasn't saying that it's impossible to find anyone on XBL that isn't pants. I was saying that after paying for a gold membership for a few years you'll end up paying twice the cost of a ps3.
Wait?
Were you even responding to my comment or was I quoted by mistake? It seems like your responding to someone elses post.

The fact that the PS3 don't come with a headset is really annoying, and i can't find a PS3 headset anywhere. And yes, the whole HDMI thing can be annoying as well, but trust me, it's worth it.
I saw in HMV last Thursday an Accessories pack of HDMI cable, 4 way USB splitter (for the newer versions), Real Triggers (non slip attachments for the Sixaxis/Dualshock L2&R2 triggers and a Giotech Bluetooth Headset for £20.

Bargain.

I bought my friend Uncharted instead though because he already had the HDMI cable and he doesn't know how good the real triggers are yet.

I also own all three consoles (and many more) but I rarely play with the 360 or the Wii.

I hope I don't have to explain why I don't play with the Wii.

What holds me back from playing with my 360 more is the controller. I hate that stupid white thing. It's so uncomfortable.

I also like the PS3 controller but that is due to nostalgia. I grew up with that controller and I don't want something else (except it's the Gamecube controller).

EDIT: hehehe...just remembered when my friend was trying to win the fanboy-war against me, and he started comapring the 360 to the PS2...yes, 7th Gen vs. 6th Gen, that's a fair fight. He then said to me that the 360 has USB ports. He then hated my counter-argument about the PS2...
Why didn't you told him that you are defending the best selling console ever? Instant win.

The PS2 is probably still better than all next gen consoles combined.

My story goes pretty much exactly the same as yours, RROD, upgrade to Elite, buy PS3 a bit further down the track (Wii gathering dust until Mad World is released.)

But, the difference is that I made sure that my PS3 came with a HDMI cable. Most of the PS3 deals included 3 games and no HDMI cable, but I only wanted one of those games, so I found a retailer offering 1 game and a HDMI cable for around the same price.

I am much more impressed with the PS3 than I expected to be. The controller, although definately not as comfortable for long gaming sessions as the xbox360 controller, gives me a nice warm fuzzy nostalgic feeling, as it takes me back to my many hours with PS1 & PS2 controllers, but it does really need an update. I totally HATE the L2 & R2 buttons, they just seem to slope the wrong way...

Of course, it comes down to the games. For a couple of reasons, I'll probably still buy Xbox360 games over PS3 games.

Firstly, Xbox Achievement points. I don't think I'm an achievement whore by any means, but I do like getting them, and I like watching my Gamer Score increase. Having that number makes the process much more rewarding than those PS3 trophies.

Secondly, and not quite so importantly, is probably the fact that most Xbox360 games display at 1080p, while most of the PS3 games seem to only display at 720p. Not really that big of a deal, but I will use the highest resolution I have available to me.. why wouldn't I?

I suppose I can't say much, given that I don't have nor have I played the PS3, but since Sony seems to be with the, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it," school of consol-ing (as per Atari, except that they actually broke something that wasn't broken ala 5200) and I have played PS2, I can say this:
Aside from Little Big Planet, none of the PS exclusives are really all that appealing to me. Most of them are samey FPS's and the ones that aren't are God of War (as far as I know), none of which look escpecially entertaining. The other games that were previously PS exclusives (e.g., Devil May Cry, Final Fantasy, Jak & Daxter, Ratchet & Clank, etc.) are either coming to 360 or dying. Not to mention the fact that if you actually look at the 360 and PS3 controllers, the only differences are that the 360 controllers have the left analogue stick switched with the D-Pad and that the 360 controller has no edges.
Basically, the point is that neither one is inherently superior to the other. Each has its good qualities and its bad as gaming consoles (random attatchments notwithstanding) and both are basically the same.
So what if the PS3 has free internet? The 360 has more games =P

. . . I guess I could say much after all ^^;

DISCLAIMER: No fanboys' feelings were intentionally harmed in the making of this post.

Hmm, I wouldn't say the PS3 controller is that bad. I mean imagine if they stuck with the boomerang idea?

Nah, I prefer the classic one thanks.
I always put it down as a clever idea. When you get pissed off that your controller is a steering wheel and throw it out the window, you don't loose it.

No, I think I quoted correctly. I know someone else posted the WalMart thing. So far from what I have seen of PSN, I like XBL better, but I should give it some more time before I make that call.

I will say this, LBP is fun on a bun. I've just started playing around with level creating.

My little brother just got a 360(only the very basic one) last month and that thing has some demons that need exorcizing. It freezes up from time to time and every once and a while doesn?t want to spin the disk and can only be made to play after a lot of coaxing and reassurance (one time almost a full 15 min worth). I feel bad for him because he did officially go over to the dark side and was totally happy because he could play x-box live with his friends (he paid for the year subscription in advance) and now he has to take the damn system back. In addition I secretly hate the way the menu changed after he started x-box live and I don?t know if there is a way to change it back.

The controller is a matter of differing opinion. I think the MS controller is like a fat sweaty guy in my hands while the PS one feels like the lower half of a Japanese hooker in my hands. I also like the analog sticks at the bottom. But that's just my opinion and it doesn't even matter because with either system, the controller is the easiest thing to replace.
I love that line and totally agree, I am not quite sure I feel comfortable with either in my hand but would take the PS3 controller over 360s, especially around a group of friends, lol.

For some reason I prefer the ps2 controller but maybe because I have played the ps2 religiously for so many years (7 and counting). I almost hate to admit it but my fav controller, and definitely the one that I think was best for shooters, was the N64. If you could set it up and competently use the c buttons for movement it was the shit.

I agree with the OP about the HD cables but regularily switch from PS3 to 360 controller without noticing - and I have hands like coal skuttles.

I have a problem with the way PS3 hides it's goodies in the shop and the fact that it's just a really fucking ugly piece of hardware.

However, a console is nothing without it's software...

I have 22 Xbox360 games, 4 PS3 games and 9 Wii games.
Every game I want seems to perform better on the 360 (I use Eurogamers brilliant 360/PS3 face off articles as reference). Additionally there's the DLC issue for which the 360 seems to be better supported.

The Wii on the other hand has a bunch of games that try to do things differently - and I'm not talking about motion sensing - it has games that HAVE to rely on gameplay because the Wii's processor is a touch creeky and as a result there is some great software out there if you're willing to find it.

When I read about upcoming efforts it's usually the Wii titles that catch my eye.
They don't always turn out well (SPRay and Monster Lab being too recent disappointments) but the concepts are usually far more interesting than the raft of grey shooters, tired RPG's and transparent gore peddling that seems to be the staple output for the HD machines.

Of course the most worrying thing is that all the best games for all three machines are the digitally distributed ones - but that's another issue.

Hahah, that's funny and stupid at the same time.

Seriously, who ever prefers the PS3's controller over the Xbox 360's, is someone I will not trust, because he/she is probably somewhere near 10 years old.
It's tiny, so lightweight it doesn't feel very sturdy, and has a shape that much less fits in the hand than the Xbox 360's controller.

Those Maddox guys probably haven't seen daylight for many, many years, and we all know that that means that they're hands are weak.
And no, the cat will be perfectly fine. Except for maybe a little astonishment, but that happens with the Dual Shock/Six Axis also.

EDIT: I'd like to see those Maddox guys have bigger balls than the PS3's controller....on second thought, no, I would not, but I'd still like some proof.
I understand this is sarcasm, but who in their right mind would put those as negative aspects to a controller?
It's not that big (unless they've played with the Playstations' controllers their whole life), and to me, the heaviness is a plus.

/rant

SECOND EDIT: Seriously people, take a day off kindergarten, go on the internet, and look for what a "wall of text" means.
No, it's not cool to just say "wall of text" about every text someone types on the internet.

OK, I have been a Xbox fan for a very long time, don't hold anything against PS3 fanboys, I just never saw the need to buy a PS3. The exclusives didn't catch my eye and I really didn't care about blue-ray.

Well a few months ago, by xbox RROD. I used this as an excuse to upgrade to an xbox elite since I just had a shitty 12gb HDD, and I really like the download games option. So I've been wailing away on my elite for a few months now (it is actually louder than my old unit - which was repaired for free so I have one for sale now) and having a merry old time.

Well, the wife and I stopped into Circuit City. Since they are closing, they have some pretty good discounts on electronics. So, I did it. I got a PS3 for 30% off. Why not. I also picked up LPB, Resistance 1 & 2 and Heavenly Sword.

First impressions... This is a very impressive machine. Since I already have a PSP for all the travel I do, I really like the PS3 menu system. The PSN was easy to get connected to (and free). I like being able to plug in a keyboard. I got one Blue Ray movie (Dark Knight, can you think of a better movie to start you Blue Ray collection?) So overall, I am very impressed, I definately like the lack of noise compared to the xbox. Graphics wise, I don't see any huge difference with the xbox and in the future if there are multi platform games that have multiplayer, I will probably get it on Xbox since I have a lot of online friends there. That is until I build up my PSN friends.

No to the point of debate (sorry for all the crap before this). You PS3 fanboys have been tooting your horn saying that an xbox elite is actualy more expensive than a PS3, some of the points are valid (no wireless included, for example). Now the PS3 didn't come with a head set, that is kinda retarted, but what ever. Here is what pissed me off about the PS3, it did not come with an HDMI cable, it did not even come with component cables. Only standard AV. The Xbox Elite came with HDMI and Component. So I had to shell out another $80 bucks to get my HD on. Maybe other versions came with HDMI cable (mine is the 80GB), I don't know, but that was a big cock slap in the face.

Problem nubmer 2 - for the love of god sony, update you damn controler. The average gamer is 18-30, we are not 10yo kids with tiny hands. In the contest of best/most ergonimic controler, xbox wins easily.

So PS3fan boys, do these two gripes bother you? Out of the box the Xbox elite is HD ready, the PS3 is not, gotta buy the cable. And a controler designed for baby hands that hasn't changed much since the PS1 for god's sake.

Not flaming anyone/thing here. The machine is very impressive. I now have LBP so my wife will actually play a game with me now (although she is getting fond of L4D, even though she is a complete spaz and fires wildly when she is surrounded with zombies, but my wife playing L4D is still HOT)

EDIT: Yes I do have a Wii, but that is for the wife, I rarely play it. For my gaming, it doesn't really compare to the Xbox or PS3, obviously.
Why the hell did you spend $80 on an HDMI cable?
yes i spent 10 on mine why the hell did you spend 80 on a HDMI ?

oh and about that controller thing

relax i've owned both consoles for a while now and so have some of my friends
and we all agree that it makes no differance on the controller on how you experiance the game
although

Sony REALLY should update thier controller

I think you might be talking about the old Xbox's original controller. It was massive and I love it.

However the Xbox 360 controller is without a doubt the best controller than the others available. It is much more comfortable and easy to use than the PS3's official controller. The only problem with the 360 is the D-pad which is particularly bad, fortunately it's rarely used.

I don't see how anyone can like the PS3 controller over the 360 one. It is way to light to be comfortable, it's too small, the analogue stick are terrible; why do Sony continue to fail to recognise that thumb sticks should be concave, not convex! And the horrible spongy triggers on the controller are just a mess.
