There has always been hate for Harry Potter and this isn't a topic to convert anyone to changing their opinion, but now that the movie series is over, all I have seen basically its HUGE and I mean HUGE amounts of hate. Both the Movie Bob Episode people posts and article posts is almost 98% all ripping on the movie and the series in general. (I mean POSTS whoops made a mistake, Movie Bob didn't rip on Harry Potter, I mean't to say posters.)

Sure even before the series finished this was true, but not to this excentnt.

Why? Is it that those who are nowing coming out to hate it think its cool to say they don't like it (NOT TRUE FOR ALL), or think now think that people who liked it will stop talking about it becuase they hate how a series they like isn't as big?

What is it? I am not so much talking about the movies per-se but the reason for the huge amount of hate suddely appearing?

Has Harry Potter become the Call of Duty hate of Movies?

Hi there, you must be new to the internet. That's ok, everyone is a beginner at some point.

You see, as per my understanding, people with a lot of negative emotions towards anything are called "haters" and from what I hear, they are particularly known for constantly going to hate.

You'll pick it up soon, I'm sure. Have a good day my friend :D

In all serious-ness though. Harry Potter is popular, it's a worldwide phenomenon...so yeah, people are going to say a lot of bad things about it

I don't think movie bob completely ripped on HP, at least not in the latest review. And from my personal experience over the last few weeks leading up to the release of the new film, and including all the years before, the people are know either A. love it or B. don't like it and are not fussed. I have yet to meet someone who has a hate for Harry Potter. As Strain42, it's all the haters, let them do their thing before moving onto the next big thing they can complain about

Everything about this. On the internet, a certain hipsterness exists towards anything that's popular simply because everyone want's to feel unique. To quote Yahtzee, sometimes popular things are popular for a reason: because they're good.

I'm one of the more oblivious people on the internet. It's like I have shortsightedness for my mind. If I can't see the hate, it's not that big. And I really don't see any hate.

Besides, don't hold a grudge against haters. Haters are just professional bitchers. Don't take it personally, it's their hobby.

I find it's in large part sue to HP7 ending on a low note. It was a fantastic wonderful series that ended gracelessly leaving a bad taste in the mouth. Deathly Hallows simply wasn't that great, and (at least to me) utterly unsatisfying. It's easy to hate on the Hallows: they deserve it. It's not that it ended that irks the ire of so many people; it's that it ended so poorly.

However, in my experience, I've seen more people gush about the movies, so it may very well simply be the circles you run in more than anything else.

Has Harry Potter become the Call of Duty hate of Movies?
Simple: I've always hated HP, but now that it's finally over, we've won. Yes, the haters have won, because it's finally fucking well over. I will never again have to hear about HP on the news or have people ask me:"You like to read, so you've read all the Harry Potter books, right?" No. No, I haven't. And I have no interest in having you talk at me about them.

It's like when a hated tyrant dies: everybody was smoldering with hatred for years, but the day it's finally over, there's partying in the streets and publically slagging on the dead despot. It's the joy of freedom mixed with years of anger. I try not to rub it into peoples faces (in fact, I believe this is my first time discussing it on the Escapist), but I am just genuinely happy HP is gone forever. That's why.

Well, here we go.

Okay, here's the thing everyone. These haters have always been there, the same way the fans have always been here. People have these things called "opinions" and they're gonna differ. People are gonna hate on Harry Potter for reasons like, "it's a dumb, mindless, horribly written overrated children's book that people won't shut up about" while others will support it by saying, "it's an interesting, compelling, enjoyable, targeted-at-children book that people in general can enjoy together." They're all opinions, some having more merits than others. Then there are those in middle who don't give a fuck either way, but they usually don't bother commenting on the whole thing.

The only reason you're noticing this hate now, is because the movie just came out. People are gonna voice they're opinions a bit louder, and exclaim how they don't like this or that . The same way you're voicing your opinion and trying to defend the HP series.

One word: Pottermore
Ah, but that's a site I will never have to visit. Nobody will randomly ask me if I'm on Pottermore or my opinions on the Pottermore movie compared to the Pottermore book, because neither exist. It may not be over in the objective sense, but it's out of my life.

Captcha: basket case. Should I take this as a hint?

No, you didn't win. Haters winning, would be the series ending early, never finishing. By that logic, any time any series ends, the haters 'win'.

Sure. It isn't like it's an actual paying job, they're just good enough at it that if it WAS a job, they'd be hired. Thus, professional hobby.

I just have a general dislike for most of the fans. Oh, you cried in the cinema, sniffled through the whole film? Had pretend wand fights while the film was running?

I'm fucking glad I didn't go see it. Would have ruined the experience.

(note: All examples used are either from friends or from people on the internet)

Depends on your definition of winning. I get to be left alone about it now. That's enough of a win for me. I'm not hatefull enough to want the series to be ruined and I don't mind if people enjoy it in their own time. It's the fact that for the last decade people have been bothering me about it that, well, bothers me. So, for me, this qualifies as winning.

I would have thought haters winning would have been making the series go on endlessly, slowly becoming so horrible that their hate is justified.

But ending early works too...

Interesting because it has over 200 reviews, averaging 98% ('fresh') on Rotten Tomatoes. As for users/people suddenly hating it, or at least hating it more than ever before, I... always thought there was a lot of hate for the films. Having read all the books, I can't say I ever enjoyed the films, until more recently. Even then, my enjoyment is minimal, only amplified by the fact that I enjoyed the books growing up. Had there never been books, I doubt these films would have held my interest at all.

The last film just released, of course it's going to seem as if there's an infinite amount of hate towards it, that's how most things go. Not to mention that the haters are generally the most outspoken. Even so, from my end, I've only heard positive things about Part 2. I suppose it boils down to your source/website of choice.

Who cares? It's popular, so naturally people are going to be vocal about not liking it. If you like it, watch/read it - does it really matter if other people don't?
