So, on a scale of 1-10, how bad is this?

What I meant when I said that they both chose to get drunk together was that they both opened themselves to opportunity for either one of them to do something they might regret. If you're old enough to drink, you're old enough to understand the potential consequences of drinking. I don't believe that he had harmful intentions. I don't believe that he's a bad person. I already said that I think he should tell her and apologize (which entails taking responsibility for your actions), and I never said anything about sweeping anything under a rug.

I do think that the intoxicated should be held responsible for their actions. I just don't think that his actions were cause for such a great alarm. If he did insert anything anywhere or rape her, that would be a different story. Drunk drivers should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law, etc, etc. Even drunk drivers aren't bad people, just bad decision-makers.

I really do think that this can all be solved amicably like this:
"Hey, remember that time we got drunk? I felt your breast when you were passed out, and I'm really sorry. I hope we can still be friends."

"Oh really? That's kind of weird. I'd rather you not drink around me anymore."

"Okay. I'll respect that."

"Thank you."

Done.
Not a big deal.
The only good answer on this thread.
Thank you.

People need to cool down.

So I'm going to be the one person not calling for blood (that's fucking unprecedented) and ask, how does she feel about this (or does she even know)? Despite the claims of all the white knights in here, not everyone views being groped as the WORST THING THAT COULD EVER POSSIBLY EVER HAPPEN EVER. If she feels violated, then yes, I would say your friend overstepped his boundaries and probably deserves some sort of punishment. If she really doesn't care, then everyone needs to cool their jets and not try to solve a problem that doesn't exist.

Beat that friend up, badly. That is well over the/a line. Tell the lady involved, in fact; she deserves to know.
Case and point.
Agreed. I'm not saying what he did was acceptable, but women need to stop screaming RAPE! at the top of their lungs anytime somebody makes an advance on them.

If the situation were reversed, nobody would give a shit if she felt him up. Hideous double-standard. When I tell my friends some girl was groping me and I didn't like it, they laugh at me and call me pathetic.

It's definitely something that would lose my trust for a person, even if they don't have some deep-seated desire for me. This would be especially true if they keep inviting me to things where they're likely to get drunk. It happened once, so who knows how many times it's happened before that neither of them remember, or how long until it happens again.

OT: It was bad, but there's much worse that could have happened. She needs to know what happened so she can decide what to do next time. Preferably from his mouth so he won't be blindsided by any confrontation, but if he won't come clean than someone else will have to do it for him.

Legally that's sexual assault and he can go to jail for it.

Even if that weren't the case that's just being a complete and utter scumbag. Don't be friends with a loser like that.

60% of rapes go unreported, with the social stigma attached to rape victims being cited as the #1 reason.

This, a million times.

Seriously, some of you guys need to chill the fuck out and quit calling for his head on a stick. It's up to the possible victim - not society, and least of all you - to decide whether or not they've been victimized. If she chooses to press charges, so be it. Once again, if she doesn't care, then don't create a problem.

Again, I just want to point out that if a girl "sexually assaults" a guy everyone--including her-- thinks its 'cute' and 'just flirting'. Total bullshit. All the furious females responding to this topic can kindly stick their foot in their mouths.

This is incredible.

I can't remember the last time I saw so many logical fallacies contained in such a tiny paragraph. It's like you drafted it as some kind of exercise for your 1st year university class.

ANY woman would want to be told if there was a man feeling up on her while she was passed out. Hell, if my boyfriend was doing that I'd be pretty pissed; if he wants to feel me up while intoxicated and I give him permission, well that's a different story.

Anyways, the judgment call on how bad it is should be the girl in question; She should be notified and take whatever actions she fells needs to be taken. I doubt after this situation (Whether you tell her or not) your friendship with this man is seriously damaged, if not, dead.

I spent some time trying to figure out which one best applied to your bleats of "Hypocrisy!", and I decided this one was most appropriate.

http://www.nizkor.org/features/fallacies/hasty-generalization.html

The fact that you have chosen to believe that "everyone dismisses sexual assault against men" in order to rationalize your dismissal of sexual assault against women doesn't make it true, you know. Not that I would expect someone who used "furious females" non-ironically to ever listen to reason or common sense in a discussion about an emotionally charged subject. So by all means, continue to leap to absurd conclusions that you cannot possibly hope to back up. That's what forums are here for, after all.

So tense! You need to relax. You're coming off like a furious female.

Real friends don't feel their friends when they're passed out drunk. My douche senses are tingling...
